Jerusalem staggers, Judah is falling; their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious presence.

Jerusalem is about to fall. And so is Judah. They say and do things against the Lord. They dare to disobey him to his very face.

For Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen, because their speech and their deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious presence.

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

They return,[ but] not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this[ shall be] their derision in the land of Egypt.

Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one[ is] an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.

Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Zion shall be plowed[ like] a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.

Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave[ them] all into his hand.And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all[ these] he brought to Babylon.And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard[ speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen[ this], O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice,[ yet] will I not hear them.

Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth,[ and] draw out the tongue?[ are] ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,

The crown is fallen[ from] our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!For this our heart is faint; for these[ things] our eyes are dim.

A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable[ things is in] their vessels;Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These[ are] a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Bethshemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.

They are corrupt, and speak wickedly[ concerning] oppression: they speak loftily.They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full[ cup] are wrung out to them.And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

Wherefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they smote him, and carried away a great multitude of them captives, and brought[ them] to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him with a great slaughter.For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day,[ which were] all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the king’s son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah[ that was] next to the king.

Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken[ so much] against thee?Ye have said, It[ is] vain to serve God: and what profit[ is it] that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea,[ they that] tempt God are even delivered.

Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah[ is] exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not.

Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed[ as] a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.
