爾其愕然驚異、瞀然目盲、沈醉不因清酒、蹁躚非以醇醪、

猶大人乎、爾曹躊躇而滿志、相望而驚疑、厥心昏迷、跬步不能自主、非因飲酒、乃因駭異、

爾曹惟驚駭驚異、惟迷昧迷蒙、彼醉並非因酒、步履欹斜、並非因飲醉人之物、

Be stunned and amazed, blind yourselves and be sightless; be drunk, but not from wine, stagger, but not from beer.

People of Jerusalem, be shocked and amazed. Make yourselves blind so you can’t see anything. Get drunk, but not from wine. Be unsteady on your feet, but not because of beer.

Are you amazed and incredulous? Don’t you believe it? Then go ahead and be blind. You are stupid, but not from wine! You stagger, but not from liquor!

Stop and be astonished; blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with beer.

Be delayed and horrified, Blind yourselves and be blind; They become drunk, but not with wine, They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.

Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.

Tarry ye and wonder; take your pleasure and be blind: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

Therefore hear this, you who are afflicted, who are drunk, but not with wine:Thus says your Lord, the Lord, your God who pleads the cause of his people:“ Behold, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering; the bowl of my wrath you shall drink no more;

The Lord has mingled within her a spirit of confusion, and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and you who are near, acknowledge my might.The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless:“ Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?”

Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, you who dwell in the land of Uz; but to you also the cup shall pass; you shall become drunk and strip yourself bare.

These also reel with wine and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed by wine, they stagger with strong drink, they reel in vision, they stumble in giving judgment.For all tables are full of filthy vomit, with no space left.

Babylon was a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, making all the earth drunken; the nations drank of her wine; therefore the nations went mad.

Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:“‘ Look, you scoffers, be astounded and perish; for I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”

“ Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.

Concerning the prophets: My heart is broken within me; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, like a man overcome by wine, because of the Lord and because of his holy words.

And he came the third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

“ Then you shall say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, be drunk and vomit, fall and rise no more, because of the sword that I am sending among you.’

In that day the Lord God of hosts called for weeping and mourning, for baldness and wearing sackcloth;and behold, joy and gladness, killing oxen and slaughtering sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine.“ Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

Then he came to the disciples and said to them,“ Sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

For the Lord has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes( the prophets), and covered your heads( the seers).

Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked, be utterly desolate, declares the Lord,

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the Lord has spoken:“ Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.

And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I marveled greatly.

Wake yourself, wake yourself, stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, who have drunk to the dregs the bowl, the cup of staggering.

I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine. Then all flesh shall know that I am the Lord your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”
