Yet I will besiege Ariel; she will mourn and lament, she will be to me like an altar hearth.

The Lord says,“ Ariel, I will surround you. Jerusalem, I will get ready to attack you. Your people will mourn. They will sing songs of sadness. I will make you like the front of an altar covered with blood.

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be moaning and lamentation, and she shall be to me like an Ariel.

Yet I will bring disaster upon you, and there will be much weeping and sorrow. For Jerusalem will become what her name Ariel means— an altar covered with blood.

I will oppress Ariel, and there will be mourning and crying, and she will be to me like an Ariel.

I will bring distress to Ariel, And she will be a city of grieving and mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.

Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel.

then will I distress Ariel, and there shall be mourning and lamentation; and she shall be unto me as Ariel.

I will oppress Ariel, and there will be mourning and crying, and she will be to Me like an Ariel.

I will threaten Ariel, and she will mourn intensely and become like an altar hearth before me.

Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases[ were] torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:Whose arrows[ are] sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:Their roaring[ shall be] like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry[ it] away safe, and none shall deliver[ it].And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if[ one] look unto the land, behold darkness[ and] sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that[ was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with[ their] clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD[ is] at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD’S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

And behold at eveningtide trouble;[ and] before the morning he[ is] not. This[ is] the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

The Lord was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.For this city hath been to me[ as] a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness,[ and] with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.

And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all[ men, both] free and bond, both small and great.

As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand[ against] the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.The earth mourneth[ and] languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed[ and] hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off[ their fruits].

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day[ is] a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and[ there is] not strength to bring forth.

And it came to pass,[ that] when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she[ being] desolate shall sit upon the ground.

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set[ it] on, and also pour water into it:Gather the pieces thereof into it,[ even] every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill[ it] with the choice bones.Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it,[ and] make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum[ is] therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and[ that] the filthiness of it may be molten in it,[ that] the scum of it may be consumed.She hath wearied[ herself] with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum[ shall be] in the fire.In thy filthiness[ is] lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.

Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.The earth mourneth[ and] fadeth away, the world languisheth[ and] fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.[ There is] a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you,[ even] a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.

Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
