You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter,“ You know nothing”?

They turn everything upside down. How silly they are to think that potters are like the clay they work with! Can what is made say to the one who made it,“ You didn’t make me”? Can the pot say to the potter,“ You don’t know anything”?

You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker,“ He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it,“ He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say,“ The potter who made me is stupid”?

You have turned things around, as if the potter were the same as the clay. How can what is made say about its maker,“ He didn’t make me”? How can what is formed say about the one who formed it,“ He doesn’t understand what he’s doing”?

You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker,“ He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it,“ He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

Ye turn things upside down! Shall the potter be esteemed as clay; that the thing made should say of him that made it, He made me not; or the thing formed say of him that formed it, He hath no understanding?

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Your thinking is perverse! Should the potter be regarded as clay? Should the thing made say about its maker,“ He didn’t make me”? Or should the pottery say about the potter,“ He doesn’t understand”?

You turn things upside down! Should the potter be thought to be like clay; that the thing made should say about him who made it,“ He didn’t make me;” or the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding?”

这样，你会对我说：“那么他为什么责怪人呢？有谁抗拒他的旨意呢？”你这个人哪，你是谁，竟敢跟神顶嘴呢？被造的怎么可以对造他的说：“你为什么把我做成这个样子呢？”陶匠难道没有权用同一团的泥，又做贵重的、又做卑贱的器皿吗？

民间的愚昧人哪！你们要留心；愚顽人哪！你们要到几时才能明白呢？那造耳朵的，自己不能听见吗？那造眼睛的，自己不能看见吗？

耶和华有话临到耶利米，说：“起来，下到陶匠的家里去，在那里我要使你听到我的话。”我就下到陶匠的家里去，见他正在转盘旁工作。陶匠用他手中的泥所做的器皿坏了，他就用这泥再做别的器皿，照着自己的意思去作。于是耶和华的话临到我，说：“以色列家啊！难道我不能待你们像这陶匠所作的一样吗？”这是耶和华的宣告。“看哪！泥在陶匠的手中怎样，以色列家啊！你们在我的手中也必怎样。我什么时候宣布要拔出、拆毁、毁灭一邦或一国，如果我论到的那一邦转离他们的恶行，我就必回心转意，不把我原定的灾祸降给他们。同样，我什么时候宣布要建立、栽植一邦或一国，如果他们行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就必回心转意，不把我应许的好处赐给他们。

耶和华啊！现在你还是我们的父；我们不过是泥土，你才是陶匠；我们众人都是你手所作的。

那与他的创造主争论的，有祸了！他不过是地上瓦片中的一片瓦片，泥土能对陶匠说：‘你在作什么？’或你所作成的说：‘他没有手’吗？那对父亲说：‘你生的是什么’，或对母亲说：‘你产的是什么’的，有祸了！”以色列的圣者，造以色列的主耶和华这样说：“你们可以问我将要来的事，关于我的众子和我手所作的，你们也可以吩咐我回答。

看哪！耶和华使大地空虚，变为荒凉；他必翻转地面，使地上的居民四散。
