Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think,“ Who sees us? Who will know?”

How terrible it will be for people who try hard to hide their plans from the Lord! They do their work in darkness. They think,“ Who sees us? Who will know?”

Ah, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say,“ Who sees us? Who knows us?”

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.“ He doesn’t know what’s going on!”

Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord, And whose deeds are done in a dark place, And they say,“ Who sees us?” or“ Who knows us?”

Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say,“ Who sees us?” and,“ Who knows us?”

Woe unto them that hide deep their counsel from Jehovah, and whose works are in the dark, and that say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Woe to those who go to great lengths to hide their plans from the Lord. They do their works in darkness, and say,“ Who sees us? Who knows us?”

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Those who try to hide their plans from the LORD are as good as dead, who do their work in secret and boast,“ Who sees us? Who knows what we’re doing?”

Woe to those who deeply hide their counsel from Yahweh, and whose deeds are in the dark, and who say,“ Who sees us?” and“ Who knows us?”

He said to me,“ Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his idol? For they are saying,‘ The LORD does not see us. The LORD has abandoned the land.’”

Woe to the rebellious children! This is the LORD’s declaration. They carry out a plan, but not mine; they make an alliance, but against my will, piling sin on top of sin.

You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you ask,“ How have we wearied him?” When you say,“ Everyone who does what is evil is good in the LORD’s sight, and he is delighted with them, or else where is the God of justice?”

You were secure in your wickedness; you said,‘ No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge led you astray. You said to yourself,‘ I am, and there is no one else.’

For you said,“ We have made a covenant with Death, and we have an agreement with Sheol; when the overwhelming catastrophe passes through, it will not touch us, because we have made falsehood our refuge and have hidden behind treachery.”

Meanwhile, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling on one another. He began to say to his disciples first,“ Be on your guard against the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.There is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered, nothing hidden that won’t be made known.Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

He says to himself,“ God has forgotten; he hides his face and will never see.”Rise up, LORD God! Lift up your hand. Do not forget the oppressed.Why has the wicked person despised God? He says to himself,“ You will not demand an account.”

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who examines minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

So don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.

Look, they spew from their mouths— sharp words from their lips.“ For who,” they say,“ will hear?”

LORD, you have searched me and known me.You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away.You observe my travels and my rest; you are aware of all my ways.Before a word is on my tongue, you know all about it, LORD.You have encircled me; you have placed your hand on me.This wondrous knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to reach it.Where can I go to escape your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.

And I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the mason’s level.” Hail will sweep away the false refuge, and water will flood your hiding place.

The wicked say,“ How can God know? Does the Most High know everything?”

He answered me,“ The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is extremely great; the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity. For they say,‘ The LORD has abandoned the land; he does not see.’

Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful things, not acting deceitfully or distorting the word of God, but commending ourselves before God to everyone’s conscience by an open display of the truth.

I will announce your righteousness, and your works— they will not profit you.

There is no darkness, no deep darkness, where evildoers can hide.

This is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.

And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who settle down comfortably, who say to themselves: The LORD will do nothing— good or bad.

Yet you say,“ What does God know? Can he judge through total darkness?Clouds veil him so that he cannot see, as he walks on the circle of the sky.”

Woe to those who drag iniquity with cords of deceit and pull sin along with cart ropes,to those who say,“ Let him hurry up and do his work quickly so that we can see it! Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel take place so that we can know it!”

They adopt an evil plan; they talk about hiding traps and say,“ Who will see them?”They devise crimes and say,“ We have perfected a secret plan.” The inner man and the heart are mysterious.

Can a person hide in secret places where I cannot see him?”— the LORD’s declaration.“ Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?”— the LORD’s declaration.

They say,“ The LORD doesn’t see it. The God of Jacob doesn’t pay attention.”Pay attention, you stupid people! Fools, when will you be wise?Can the one who shaped the ear not hear, the one who formed the eye not see?

The wicked are those who rebel against the light. They do not recognize its ways or stay on its paths.The murderer rises at dawn to kill the poor and needy, and by night he becomes a thief.The adulterer’s eye watches for twilight, thinking,“ No eye will see me,” and he covers his face.In the dark they break into houses; by day they lock themselves in, never experiencing the light.For the morning is like darkness to them. Surely they are familiar with the terrors of darkness!
