The Lord will come as he did against the Philistines at Mount Perazim and against the Amorites at Gibeon. He will come to do a strange thing; he will come to do an unusual deed:

耶和华必兴起，像在毗拉心山；他必发怒，像在基遍谷，好做成他的工，就是非常的工；成就他的事，就是奇异的事。

蓋耶和華興起、如在比拉心山、震怒如在基遍谷、以行其事、其事非常、且成其功、其功奇異、

耶和華勃興、赫然震怒、與在比哩心山基遍谷、無以異也、惟降災於選民、實所罕有、

主必興起、如昔在毘拉心山、震怒如昔在基遍谷、欲行其事、即非常之事、欲成其工、即奇異之工、

The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon— to do his work, his strange work, and perform his task, his alien task.

The Lord will rise up to judge, just as he did at Mount Perazim. He will get up to act, just as he did in the Valley of Gibeon. He’ll do his work, but it will be strange work. He’ll carry out his task, but it will be an unexpected one.

For the Lord will rise up as on Mount Perazim; as in the Valley of Gibeon he will be roused; to do his deed— strange is his deed! and to work his work— alien is his work!

For the LORD will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim. He will rise in wrath, as at the Valley of Gibeon, to do his work, his unexpected work, and to perform his task, his unfamiliar task.

For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be stirred up as in the Valley of Gibeon, To do His task, His unusual task, And to work His work, His extraordinary work.

For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon— That He may do His work, His awesome work, And bring to pass His act, His unusual act.

On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said,“ Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”

So David went to Baal perazim and defeated the Philistines there.“ The Lord did it!” David exclaimed.“ He burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So he named that place Baal perazim( which means“ the Lord who bursts through”).

So David and his troops went up to Baal perazim and defeated the Philistines there.“ God did it!” David exclaimed.“ He used me to burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So they named that place Baal perazim( which means“ the Lord who bursts through”).

The Lord threw them into a panic, and the Israelites slaughtered great numbers of them at Gibeon. Then the Israelites chased the enemy along the road to Beth horon, killing them all along the way to Azekah and Makkedah.

But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep.“ How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes.Before long your enemies will build ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you from every side.They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not recognize it when God visited you.”

So David did what the Lord commanded, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.

All who pass by jeer at you. They scoff and insult beautiful Jerusalem, saying,“ Is this the city called‘ Most Beautiful in All the World’ and‘ Joy of All the Earth’?”

After the Lord has used the king of Assyria to accomplish his purposes on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, he will turn against the king of Assyria and punish him— for he is proud and arrogant.

The Lord will separate them from all the tribes of Israel, to pour out on them all the curses of the covenant recorded in this Book of Instruction.“ Then the generations to come, both your own descendants and the foreigners who come from distant lands, will see the devastation of the land and the diseases the Lord inflicts on it.They will exclaim,‘ The whole land is devastated by sulfur and salt. It is a wasteland with nothing planted and nothing growing, not even a blade of grass. It is like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger.’“ And all the surrounding nations will ask,‘ Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why was he so angry?’

All your lovers— your allies— have left you and do not care about you anymore. I have wounded you cruelly, as though I were your enemy. For your sins are many, and your guilt is great.

Because of this, I will once again astound these hypocrites with amazing wonders. The wisdom of the wise will pass away, and the intelligence of the intelligent will disappear.”

On January 8, during the twelfth year of our captivity, a survivor from Jerusalem came to me and said,“ The city has fallen!”

Again and again that flood will come, morning after morning, day and night, until you are carried away.” This message will bring terror to your people.

For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.
