The bed is too short to stretch out on, the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.

You will be like someone whose bed is too short to lie down on. You will be like those whose blankets are too small to wrap themselves in.

For the bed is too short to stretch oneself on, and the covering too narrow to wrap oneself in.

The bed you have made is too short to lie on. The blankets are too narrow to cover you.

Indeed, the bed is too short to stretch out on, and its cover too small to wrap up in.

The bed is too short on which to stretch out, And the blanket is too small to wrap oneself in.

For the bed is too short to stretch out on, And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it.

For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it; and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

Indeed, the bed is too short to stretch out on, and its cover too small to wrap up in.

But look, you are trusting in deceptive words that are worthless.“‘ Will you steal and murder, commit adultery and perjury, burn incense to Baal and follow other gods you have not known,and then come and stand before me in this house, which bears my Name, and say,“ We are safe”— safe to do all these detestable things? They hatch the eggs of vipers and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, and when one is broken, an adder is hatched.Their cobwebs are useless for clothing; they cannot cover themselves with what they make. Their deeds are evil deeds, and acts of violence are in their hands. (niv)

I will expose your righteousness and your works, and they will not benefit you.When you cry out for help, let your collection of idols save you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But whoever takes refuge in me will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain.” (niv)

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.For it is written:“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things— and the things that are not— to nullify the things that are,so that no one may boast before him.It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God— that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.Therefore, as it is written:“ Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (niv)

All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. (niv)
