行潦汎濫、橫溢四境、斯難頻至、危在旦夕、爾眾盡為所淹、聞風而驚駭不已。

As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through.” The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.

四面的驚嚇使他害怕，在他腳跟後面追趕他。

我聽見這聲音，身體戰兢，嘴唇發顫，骨中朽爛，在所立之處戰兢；但我安靜等候災難之日臨到那上來侵犯我們的民。

「人子啊，你要畫定兩條路線，使巴比倫王的刀過來，這兩條路必從同一地分出來；要在通往城裏的路口畫手作指標。你要劃定一條路，使刀來到亞捫人的拉巴，來到猶大，在堅固城耶路撒冷。因為巴比倫王站在岔路上，在兩條路口占卜。他搖籤求問神像，察看肝臟；右手是耶路撒冷的占卜，以便安設撞城槌，張口喊殺，揚聲呼叫，建土堆，築堡壘，以撞城槌攻打城門。在那些曾鄭重起誓的猶大人眼中，這是虛假的占卜；但巴比倫王要使他們想起自己的罪孽，以便俘擄他們。」

他們對他說：「希西家如此說：『今日是急難、懲罰、凌辱的日子，就如嬰孩快要出生，卻沒有力氣生產。

看哪，他們的英雄在外面哀號，求和的使臣在痛哭。

耶和華對撒母耳說：「看哪，我在以色列中必行一件事，凡聽見的人都必雙耳齊鳴。

「日月星辰要顯出預兆，地上的邦國也有困苦，因海中波浪的響聲而惶惶不安。人想到那要臨到世界的事，就都嚇得魂不附體，因為天上的萬象都要震動。

希西家王十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大的一切堅固的城，將城攻取。

於是我－但以理昏倒，病了數日，然後起來辦理王的事務。我因這異象驚駭不已，但還是不能了解。

所以耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：看哪，我必降禍於耶路撒冷和猶大，凡聽見的人都必雙耳齊鳴。

這事到此結束。我－但以理因這些念頭甚是驚惶，臉色也變了，卻將這事記在心裏。

說：『猶大君王和耶路撒冷的居民哪，當聽耶和華的話。萬軍之耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：看哪，我必使災禍臨到這地方，凡聽見的人都必耳鳴；

當下希勒家的兒子以利亞敬宮廷總管、舍伯那書記，和亞薩的兒子約亞史官都撕裂衣服，來到希西家那裏，將亞述將軍的話告訴他。

主耶和華賜我受教者的舌頭，使我知道怎樣用言語扶助疲乏的人。主每天早晨喚醒，喚醒我的耳朵，使我能聽，像受教者一樣。

何細亞第九年，亞述王攻取了撒瑪利亞，把以色列人擄到亞述，安置在哈臘與歌散的哈博河邊，以及瑪代人的城鎮。

耶和華派迦勒底、亞蘭、摩押和亞捫人的軍隊來攻擊約雅敬；耶和華派他們來攻擊猶大，要毀滅它，正如耶和華藉他僕人眾先知所說的話。

禍哉！亞述，我怒氣的棍！他們手中的杖是我的惱恨。我要差遣他攻擊褻瀆的國，吩咐他對付我所惱怒的民，搶走擄物，奪取掠物，將他們踐踏，如同街上的泥土一般。
