行潦汎濫、橫溢四境、斯難頻至、危在旦夕、爾眾盡為所淹、聞風而驚駭不已。

As often as it comes it will carry you away; morning after morning, by day and by night, it will sweep through.” The understanding of this message will bring sheer terror.

驚駭四面恐嚇他，並且追趕他的腳蹤。

我一聽見，就全身發抖；因這聲音，我嘴唇震顫。腐爛侵蝕我骨，我在站立之地戰兢。我靜候災難之日，犯境的民上來。

“人子啊！至於你，你要定出兩條路，給巴比倫王的刀前來；這兩條路都從同一個地方出來；你要在通往城去的路口上做一個路標。你要定出一條路，使刀臨到亞捫的拉巴，又要定出另一條路，使刀臨到猶大，攻擊堅固城耶路撒冷。因為巴比倫王站在分叉路口，在兩條路口上占卜、搖籤、求問神像，察看動物的肝。他右手中拿著耶路撒冷的籤，要在那裡架起攻城鎚，下令屠殺，揚聲吶喊；架起攻城鎚，攻打城門；築起土壘，建造圍城的高牆。在那些曾經向巴比倫起誓效忠的猶大人看來，這是虛假的占卜，但巴比倫王要使他們想起自己的罪孽，把他們擄去。

他們對他說：“希西家這樣說：‘今日是急難、責罰和凌辱的日子，就像嬰孩快要出生的時候，卻沒有氣力生出來一樣。

看哪！他們的勇士在街上呼叫；和平的使者在痛苦哭泣。

耶和華對撒母耳說：“看哪！我要在以色列中行一件事，聽見的人，都必耳鳴；

“日月星辰將有異兆；在地上，各國也要因著海洋波濤的咆哮而困苦不安。天上的萬象震動，人因為等待即將臨到世界的事，都嚇昏了。

希西家王在位第十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大所有的設防城，佔據了它們。

我但以理精疲力竭，病了幾天，後來我起來，辦理王的事務，但我仍因這異象驚駭不已，不明白它的意思。

所以，耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘看哪，我要把災禍降在耶路撒冷和猶大，使聽見的人，雙耳都要刺痛。

這事到此完畢。我但以理心中十分驚惶，臉色也變了，但我把這事存放在心裡。”

你要說：‘猶大列王和耶路撒冷的居民哪！你們要聽耶和華的話。萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：看哪！我必使災禍臨到這地方；凡聽見的，都必耳鳴。

於是希勒家的兒子管家以利亞敬、書記舍伯那和亞薩的兒子史官約亞，都撕裂衣服，來到希西家面前，把拉伯沙基的話告訴了他。

主耶和華賜給了我一個受教者的舌頭，使我知道怎樣用言語扶助疲乏的人；主每天清晨喚醒我，他每天清晨喚醒我的耳朵，使我能像受教者一樣靜聽。

何細亞在位第九年，亞述王佔領了撒瑪利亞，把以色列人擄到亞述去，安置他們在哈臘，在哈博河和歌散河一帶，以及在瑪代人的各城。

耶和華差派迦勒底的軍隊、亞蘭的軍隊、摩押的軍隊和亞捫人的軍隊攻打他，他差他們攻擊猶大，毀滅它，就像耶和華藉著他的僕人眾先知預言的話。

亞述啊！我怒氣的棍子，有禍了。他們手中拿著我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國，吩咐他去攻擊我惱怒的子民，擄去掠物，搶奪擄物，把他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。
