to whom he has said,“ This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose”; yet they would not hear.

昔謂之曰、撫綏困憊、是乃爾之安息、爾之清爽、惟彼不聽、

云爾曹困憊、當順從我、可獲寧宇、惟彼不聽。

主曾諭斯民曰、如欲自得平康安息、則當先使困憊者得安息、惟彼不願聽、

to whom he said,“ This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and,“ This is the place of repose”— but they would not listen.

He said to his people,“ I am offering you a resting place. Let those who are tired rest.” He continued,“ I am offering you a place of peace and quiet.” But they wouldn’t listen.

God has told his people,“ Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here. This is a place of quiet rest.” But they would not listen.

He had said to them,“ This is the place of rest; let the weary rest; this is the place of repose.” But they would not listen.

He who said to them,“ This is the place of quiet, give rest to the weary,” And,“ This is the resting place,” but they would not listen.

To whom He said,“ This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,” And,“ This is the refreshing”; Yet they would not hear.

to whom he said, This is the rest, give ye rest to him that is weary; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

He had said to them:“ This is the place of rest, let the weary rest; this is the place of repose.” But they would not listen.

To whom he said, This[ is] the rest[ wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this[ is] the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

In the past he said to them,“ This is where security can be found. Provide security for the one who is exhausted! This is where rest can be found.” But they refused to listen.

to whom he said,“ This is the resting place. Give rest to weary,” and“ This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel,“ In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,

Thus says the Lord:“ Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’

“ and I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations that they had not known. Thus the land they left was desolate, so that no one went to and fro, and the pleasant land was made desolate.”

“ As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not listen to you.

See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.

But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears that they might not hear.

And Asa cried to the Lord his God,“ O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.”

“ But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me.So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!

In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a signal for the peoples— of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious.

Were not the Ethiopians and the Libyans a huge army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, he gave them into your hand.For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars.”
