主曾諭斯民曰、如欲自得平康安息、則當先使困憊者得安息、惟彼不願聽、

to whom he said,“ This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and,“ This is the place of repose”— but they would not listen.

He said to his people,“ I am offering you a resting place. Let those who are tired rest.” He continued,“ I am offering you a place of peace and quiet.” But they wouldn’t listen.

to whom he has said,“ This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose”; yet they would not hear.

God has told his people,“ Here is a place of rest; let the weary rest here. This is a place of quiet rest.” But they would not listen.

He had said to them,“ This is the place of rest; let the weary rest; this is the place of repose.” But they would not listen.

He who said to them,“ This is the place of quiet, give rest to the weary,” And,“ This is the resting place,” but they would not listen.

To whom He said,“ This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,” And,“ This is the refreshing”; Yet they would not hear.

to whom he said, This is the rest, give ye rest to him that is weary; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

He had said to them:“ This is the place of rest, let the weary rest; this is the place of repose.” But they would not listen.

To whom he said, This[ is] the rest[ wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this[ is] the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

In the past he said to them,“ This is where security can be found. Provide security for the one who is exhausted! This is where rest can be found.” But they refused to listen.

to whom he said,“ This is the resting place. Give rest to weary,” and“ This is the refreshing;” yet they would not hear.

“ Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (niv)

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:“ In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it. (niv)

This is what the Lord says:“ Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said,‘ We will not walk in it.’ (niv)

‘ I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it. This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.’” (niv)

“ We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord! (niv)

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? (niv)

“ But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and covered their ears. (niv)

Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said,“ Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.” (niv)

“ But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.“ If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, (niv)

In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious. (niv)

Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the Lord, he delivered them into your hand.For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” (niv)
