For it is: Do this, do that, a rule for this, a rule for that; a little here, a little there.”

Indeed, they will hear meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there.

But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little,[ and] there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day[ that] I brought them up out of the land of Egypt,[ even] unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which[ be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.And they caught him, and cast[ him] out of the vineyard, and slew[ him].When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out[ his] vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments,( which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.

And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till[ there was] no remedy.

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed[ is] not grievous, but for you[ it is] safe.
