Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty[ is] a fading flower, which[ are] on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

祸哉！以法莲酒徒的高傲冠冕——荣耀华美的将残之花！它就在醉酒人肥沃之谷的山顶上。

禍哉！以法蓮的酒徒，住在肥美谷的山上，他們心裏高傲，以所誇的為冠冕，猶如將殘之花。

禍哉！以法蓮酒徒的高傲冠冕——榮耀華美的將殘之花！它就在醉酒人肥沃之谷的山頂上。

禍哉、以法蓮醉者高傲之冠冕、及其美飾之殘花、在膏腴山谷之上、其民沉湎於酒、

以法蓮建都於山嶺、望之若冠花冠、四周有谷、土壤膏腴、民人沉湎於酒、心志驕奢、不知浮榮易悴、禍將作矣。

以法蓮人沈湎於酒、其邑建於膏腴平原之岡、狀如華冠、華美莊嚴、遂以自誇、不知實似將殘之花、禍哉禍哉、或作以法蓮建都於高岡在膏腴之谷中狀若華冠其人沈湎於酒心高志傲不知其榮如將殘之花禍哉禍哉

Woe to that wreath, the pride of Ephraim’s drunkards, to the fading flower, his glorious beauty, set on the head of a fertile valley— to that city, the pride of those laid low by wine!

How terrible it will be for the city of Samaria! It sits on a hill like a wreath of flowers. The leaders of Ephraim are drunk. They take pride in their city. It sits above a valley that has rich soil. How terrible it will be for the glorious beauty of that fading flower!

Ah, the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine!

What sorrow awaits the proud city of Samaria— the glorious crown of the drunks of Israel. It sits at the head of a fertile valley, but its glorious beauty will fade like a flower. It is the pride of a people brought down by wine.

Woe to the majestic crown of Ephraim’s drunkards, and to the fading flower of its beautiful splendor, which is on the summit above the rich valley. Woe to those overcome with wine.

Woe to the proud crown of the habitually drunk of Ephraim, And to the fading flower of its glorious beauty, Which is at the head of the fertile valley Of those who are overcome with wine!

In the day of our king the princes have made[ him] sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:And the glorious beauty, which[ is] on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower,[ and] as the hasty fruit before the summer; which[ when] he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble[ in] judgment.

Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there[ is] the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah an hundred and twenty thousand in one day,[ which were] all valiant men; because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers.

He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which[ was] of Gathhepher.For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel,[ that it was] very bitter: for[ there was] not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

Woe unto[ them that are] mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.

So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers,[ who] therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.

Woe to them[ that are] at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria,[ which are] named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

And at the end of three years they took it:[ even] in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that[ is] the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor[ by] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant,[ and] all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear[ them], nor do[ them].

But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?

That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

And all the people shall know,[ even] Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning,[ that] they may follow strong drink; that continue until night,[ till] wine inflame them!

For the head of Syria[ is] Damascus, and the head of Damascus[ is] Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.And the head of Ephraim[ is] Samaria, and the head of Samaria[ is] Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.

And they lay[ themselves] down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned[ in] the house of their god.

For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
