Did the LORD strike Israel as he struck the one who struck Israel? Was Israel killed like those killed by the LORD?

主擊打他們，豈像擊打那些擊打他們的人嗎？他們被殺戮，豈像被他們所殺戮的嗎？

耶和華擊之、豈若擊彼擊之者乎、其見殺也、豈若殺之者之見殺乎、

雅各之家、雖遭譴責、不若敵之譴責尤深、雖被殺戮、不若敵之殺戮更慘、

雅各被主譴責、豈如其敵被主譴責、雖遇殺戮、豈如其敵所遇之殺戮、

Has the Lord struck her as he struck down those who struck her? Has she been killed as those were killed who killed her?

The Lord struck down those who struck down Israel. But he hasn’t punished Israel as much. The Lord killed those who killed many of his people. But he hasn’t punished his people as much.

Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or have they been slain as their slayers were slain?

Has the Lord struck Israel as he struck her enemies? Has he punished her as he punished them?

Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He struck them? Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?

Has He struck Israel as He struck those who struck him? Or has He been slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him?

Hath he smitten them as he smote those that smote them? or are they slain according to the slaughter of them that were slain by them?

Did the Lord strike Israel as He struck the one who struck Israel? Was he killed like those killed by Him?

Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him?[ or] is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?

Has the LORD struck down Israel like he did their oppressors? Has Israel been killed like their enemies?

Has he struck them as he struck those who struck them? Or are they killed like those who killed them were killed?

Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and left. He returned home and lived in Nineveh.One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword and escaped to the land of Ararat. Then his son Esar-haddon became king in his place.

For I will be with you— this is the LORD’s declaration— to save you! I will bring destruction on all the nations where I have scattered you; however, I will not bring destruction on you. I will discipline you justly, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.For this is what the LORD says: Your injury is incurable; your wound most severe.You have no defender for your case. There is no remedy for your sores, and no healing for you.All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer look for you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.Why do you cry out about your injury? Your pain has no cure! I have done these things to you because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.Nevertheless, all who devoured you will be devoured, and all your adversaries— all of them— will go off into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered, and all who raid you will be raided.

“ I will rise up against them”— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies—“ and I will cut off from Babylon her reputation, remnant, offspring, and posterity”— this is the LORD’s declaration.“ I will make her a swampland and a region for herons, and I will sweep her away with the broom of destruction.” This is the declaration of the LORD of Armies.

In the evening— sudden terror! Before morning— it is gone! This is the fate of those who plunder us and the lot of those who ravage us.

“ Before your very eyes, I will repay Babylon and all the residents of Chaldea for all their evil they have done in Zion.” This is the LORD’s declaration.

This is what the LORD of Armies says: Israelites and Judeans alike have been oppressed. All their captors hold them fast; they refuse to release them.Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of Armies is his name. He will fervently champion their cause so that he might bring rest to the earth but turmoil to those who live in Babylon.

The LORD has issued an order concerning you: There will be no offspring to carry on your name. I will eliminate the carved idol and cast image from the house of your gods; I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible.

There is no remedy for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news about you will clap their hands because of you, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?

“ Your Majesty, as you were watching, suddenly a colossal statue appeared. That statue, tall and dazzling, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was terrifying.The head of the statue was pure gold, its chest and arms were silver, its stomach and thighs were bronze,its legs were iron, and its feet were partly iron and partly fired clay.As you were watching, a stone broke off without a hand touching it, struck the statue on its feet of iron and fired clay, and crushed them.Then the iron, the fired clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were shattered and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Just as God demolished Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns— this is the LORD’s declaration— so no one will live there; no human being will stay in it even temporarily as a temporary resident.

On that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no longer depend on the one who struck them, but they will faithfully depend on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the Mighty God.Israel, even if your people were as numerous as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. Destruction has been decreed; justice overflows.For throughout the land the Lord GOD of Armies is carrying out a destruction that was decreed.Therefore, the Lord GOD of Armies says this:“ My people who dwell in Zion, do not fear Assyria, though they strike you with a rod and raise their staff over you as the Egyptians did.In just a little while my wrath will be spent and my anger will turn to their destruction.”

The fortress disappears from Ephraim, and a kingdom from Damascus. The remnant of Aram will be like the splendor of the Israelites. This is the declaration of the LORD of Armies.
