When its twigs are dry, they are broken off and women come and make fires with them. For this is a people without understanding; so their Maker has no compassion on them, and their Creator shows them no favor.

When their twigs are dry, they will be broken off. Then women will come and make fires with them. The people of Jacob don’t understand the Lord. So the God who made them won’t be concerned about them. Their Creator won’t be kind to them.

When its boughs are dry, they are broken; women come and make a fire of them. For this is a people without discernment; therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them; he who formed them will show them no favor.

The people are like the dead branches of a tree, broken off and used for kindling beneath the cooking pots. Israel is a foolish and stupid nation, for its people have turned away from God. Therefore, the one who made them will show them no pity or mercy.

耶和華曰、我耶和華創造萬物、張舒穹蒼、奠定寰宇、肇造爾邦、拯救爾民、

耶和華曰雅各家、以色列族、我肇造爾邦、拯救爾民、簡為我赤子、故勿畏葸、

飛鶴知其期、班鳩玄鳥、呢喃之類、俱知當來之時、惟我民不識耶和華之法。

牛識主、驢知廄、惟我以色列族民、不識不知。

凡為我赤子、我肇造爾邦家、以彰我榮。

維彼狂妄之徒、言偽而行惡、故主不悅其丁男、不惜其孤寡、其忿怒猶未息、其降罰猶未已、

頑梗、背約、不情、搆怨、中無惻隱、

南郊之林、宜聽耶和華之言、主耶和華曰、我必燃火林間、凡爾樹木、或青或枯、焚之務盡、其燄不滅、自南及北、四周盡燬、

彼既不以上帝存於中、上帝聽其喪心、行所不當行、

念茲勿忘、不矜恤人者、則被鞫時、亦必不見矜恤、惟素矜恤人者、喜以待鞫、

耶和華曰、我民愚昧、俱不知我、不明孰甚、作惡則智、為善則愚。

我欲訓異邦人使得救、彼阻尼之、如是厥罪貫盈、終必罹罰、

凡聞天國之道而不悟、惡鬼至、奪其心之所播、此播於道傍者也、

不識上帝、不服吾主耶穌基督福音者、以火爇而譴責之、其必受刑永苦、被逐於主前、不得覲其耿光、

於是耶和華奮怒、痛疾厥民兮、

人子、葡萄之樹、豈得於林中眾木、等量齊觀乎。其木不適於用、不能作釘藉以懸物、人投之火、焚其兩端、並燬其中、安能適於用哉、其木尚全、猶難適用、既焚之後、復何所用。主耶和華曰、若林木中、有葡萄樹、投之於火、別無所用、我視耶路撒冷居民亦若是。我必罰之、降以重災、既出燄山、復入火坑、使知我乃耶和華。以色列民蹈愆尤、故其地必荒蕪、我耶和華已言之矣。

斯民無謀猷、無聰明、願其有智而知此、思念厥終、

故我必視其所行、降以重罰、不復矜宥、滅之無俾遺種。

於是耶和華既造世人、旋有悔心、愀然憂之。耶和華曰、將以我所造之人、翦滅於地、以及牲畜、昆蟲、飛鳥、然此雖由我作、我則悔焉。

爾守此法、則可為智、四方之民聞此禮儀、必曰斯民昌大、智慧俱備、

彼譏上帝之使、藐視其命、侮其先知、干耶和華震怒、不復援手、使迦勒底王至、在聖室中、戮諸壯士、凡丁男、處女、耆年、耄耋者、俱無所惜、見虜於敵。

人不在我、猶枝離樹而槁、拾之委火焚矣、

我耶和華肇造爾邦、如母育子、雅各家耶書崙民、乃我所選之僕、必加眷佑、可勿畏葸。

生成之上帝、彼棄而不從、造化之上帝、彼忘而弗念。耶和華見其子女、作可惡之事、憎之特甚、曰、我不復鑒觀以眷顧之、必俟厥後當復如何、彼乃橫逆之族、無誠信之子、彼以非上帝匹我、干我震怒、彼崇事虛無、使我忿懥、故我將子異民、使彼發奮、子頑民、使彼激勵。我之忿怒如火之燎、燃於幽冥、爇其全地、偕土產以俱焚、並山基而同燬。我降災非一、盡發弧矢、年饑而民餒、體熱而人廢、絕於疫癘、嚙於獸齒、傷於毒蛇、外亡以刃、內害以驚、丁男與處女、赤子與白首、淪胥以亡。

曰不智之徒、無慧者流、有目而不見、有耳而不聞、宜聽斯言。耶和華云、我立命不易、以沙界海、洪濤澎湃、不得越其防、爾豈不寅畏、戰慄於我前。

維彼不識不知、其目若塗以泥、其心不明、孰能深思其故、奮然儆醒曰、材木之半、焚之可以烘餅炙肉、而供口腹、則其餘材、豈可作像、拜此可憎之榾柮。彼心昏迷、所望成空、若食燼餘而不悟、不知右手所作、悉屬虛妄。雅各家以色列族、我肇厥邦基、為我臣僕、當憶斯理、我不忘爾。

我自謂、彼貧乏者流、懵然愚昧、不識厥上帝耶和華之道。我必詣世家、與之語、彼庶幾灼知上帝耶和華之道、惟彼折軛斷維、不受約束。

爾昔栽培、使其葱蘢兮、今爾震怒、使彼葡萄、為火焚燬、為人斬伐、根株槁兮。

民不知道、以至滅亡、惟爾祭司、厭棄真理、故我棄爾、不為祭司、爾既忘我法度、我不佑爾後人、

蓋此民心頑、耳聾、目瞶、免其目視、耳聽、心悟、遷改而我醫之焉、

今斧置樹根、凡樹不結善果者、即砍之委火、
