Though Babylon should mount up to the sky, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet destroyers will come to her from me,” says Yahweh.“ The sound of a cry comes from Babylon, and of great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans!For Yahweh lays Babylon waste, and destroys out of her the great voice! Their waves roar like many waters. The noise of their voice is uttered.For the destroyer has come on her, even on Babylon. Her mighty men are taken. Their bows are broken in pieces, for Yahweh is a God of retribution. He will surely repay.I will make her princes, her wise men, her governors, her deputies, and her mighty men drunk. They will sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up,” says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies.

Behold, they may gather together, but not by me. Whoever gathers together against you will fall because of you.“ Behold, I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame, and forges a weapon for his work; and I have created the destroyer to destroy.No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says Yahweh.

Yahweh will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.For through Yahweh’s voice the Assyrian will be dismayed. They deserve this.”I heard the altar saying,“ Yes, Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments.”The fourth poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was given to him to scorch men with fire.People were scorched with great heat, and people blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues. They didn’t repent and give him glory.The fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was darkened. They gnawed their tongues because of the pain,and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores. They didn’t repent of their works.The sixth poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates. Its water was dried up, that the way might be prepared for the kings that come from the sunrise.I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, something like frogs;for they are spirits of demons, performing signs; which go out to the kings of the whole inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of that great day of God, the Almighty.“ Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn’t walk naked, and they see his shame.”He gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew,“ Megiddo”.The seventh poured out his bowl into the air. A loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying,“ It is done!”There were lightnings, sounds, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as has not happened since there were men on the earth, so great an earthquake, and so mighty.The great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

This very day he will halt at Nob. He shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.Behold, the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, will lop the boughs with terror. The tall will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low.He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon will fall by the Mighty One.

For Yahweh said to me,“ I will be still, and I will see in my dwelling place, like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”

and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.They went up over the width of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God and devoured them.

They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them. He will guide them by springs of water.

“ Because you are glad, because you rejoice, O you who plunder my heritage, because you are wanton as a heifer that treads out the grain, and neigh as strong horses;your mother will be utterly disappointed. Her walls have been thrown down, for it is the vengeance of Yahweh. Take vengeance on her. As she has done, do to her.

They will roar together like young lions. Have you assembled your company to take the prey, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’”’“ Therefore, son of man, prophesy, and tell Gog,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ In that day when my people Israel dwells securely, will you not know it?You will come from your place out of the uttermost parts of the north, you, and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army.You will come up against my people Israel, as a cloud to cover the land. It will happen in the latter days, that I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I am sanctified in you, Gog, before their eyes.”“‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Are you he of whom I spoke in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for years that I would bring you against them?It will happen in that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ that my wrath will come up into my nostrils.For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath I have spoken. Surely in that day there will be a great shaking in the land of Israel;so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field, all creeping things who creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the surface of the earth will shake at my presence. Then the mountains will be thrown down, the steep places will fall, and every wall will fall to the ground.I will call for a sword against him to all my mountains,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ Every man’s sword will be against his brother.I will enter into judgment with him with pestilence and with blood. I will rain on him, and on his hordes, and on the many peoples who are with him, an overflowing shower, with great hailstones, fire, and sulfur.I will magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and I will make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.”’“ You, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say,‘ The Lord Yahweh says:“ Behold, I am against you, Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.I will turn you around, and will lead you on, and will cause you to come up from the uttermost parts of the north; and I will bring you onto the mountains of Israel.I will strike your bow out of your left hand, and will cause your arrows to fall out of your right hand.You will fall on the mountains of Israel, you, and all your hordes, and the peoples who are with you. I will give you to the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the animals of the field to be devoured.You will fall on the open field; for I have spoken it,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ I will send a fire on Magog, and on those who dwell securely in the islands. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.“‘“ I will make my holy name known among my people Israel. I won’t allow my holy name to be profaned any more. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh, the Holy One in Israel.Behold, it comes, and it will be done,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ This is the day about which I have spoken.“‘“ Those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out, and will make fires of the weapons and burn them, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the war clubs and the spears, and they will make fires with them for seven years;so that they will take no wood out of the field, and not cut down any out of the forests; for they will make fires with the weapons. They will plunder those who plundered them, and rob those who robbed them,” says the Lord Yahweh.

But Yahweh says,“ Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the plunder retrieved from the fierce, for I will contend with him who contends with you and I will save your children.I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they will be drunk on their own blood, as with sweet wine. Then all flesh shall know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

For he says,“ Aren’t all of my princes kings?Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?”As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria;shall I not, as I have done to Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.For he has said,“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding. I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers.My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.”Should an ax brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood.

“ Thus he said,‘ The fourth animal will be a fourth kingdom on earth, which will be different from all the kingdoms, and will devour the whole earth, and will tread it down, and break it in pieces.As for the ten horns, ten kings will arise out of this kingdom. Another will arise after them; and he will be different from the former, and he will put down three kings.He will speak words against the Most High, and will wear out the saints of the Most High. He will plan to change the times and the law; and they will be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.“‘ But the judgment will be set, and they will take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it to the end.The kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole sky, will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions will serve and obey him.’

Then Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made himself a booth, and sat under it in the shade, until he might see what would become of the city.Yahweh God prepared a vine, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to deliver him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the vine.

I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will humble the arrogance of the terrible.

Ah, the uproar of many peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.At evening, behold, terror! All of them slain, fallen by the sword;whose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit, and her company is around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror in the land of the living.“ There is Elam and all her multitude around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living, and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.They have set her a bed among the slain with all her multitude. They are put to shame in the terror which they caused by their might. They lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.“ Pharaoh will see them, and will be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ For I have put his terror in the land of the living. He will be laid among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude,” says the Lord Yahweh.

He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden.His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying,‘ I have not seen you.’Behold, this is the joy of his way: out of the earth, others will spring.

Why should the nations say,“ Where is their God?” Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, that vengeance for your servants’ blood is being poured out.Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death.Pay back to our neighbors seven times into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord.

But you are cast away from your tomb like an abominable branch, clothed with the slain, who are thrust through with the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit; like a dead body trodden under foot.

Lift up your feet to the perpetual ruins, all the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary.Your adversaries have roared in the middle of your assembly. They have set up their standards as signs.They behaved like men wielding axes, cutting through a thicket of trees.Now they break all its carved work down with hatchet and hammers.They have burned your sanctuary to the ground. They have profaned the dwelling place of your Name.They said in their heart,“ We will crush them completely.” They have burned up all the places in the land where God was worshiped.We see no miraculous signs. There is no longer any prophet, neither is there among us anyone who knows how long.How long, God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever?Why do you draw back your hand, even your right hand? Take it from your chest and consume them!Yet God is my King of old, working salvation throughout the earth.You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces. You gave him as food to people and desert creatures.You opened up spring and stream. You dried up mighty rivers.The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun.You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter.Remember this, that the enemy has mocked you, Yahweh. Foolish people have blasphemed your name.Don’t deliver the soul of your dove to wild beasts. Don’t forget the life of your poor forever.Honor your covenant, for haunts of violence fill the dark places of the earth.Don’t let the oppressed return ashamed. Let the poor and needy praise your name.Arise, God! Plead your own cause. Remember how the foolish man mocks you all day.Don’t forget the voice of your adversaries. The tumult of those who rise up against you ascends continually.
