Moab will spread out its hands in the middle of it, just as a swimmer spreads his hands to swim; the LORD will bring down Moab’s pride as it spreads its hands.

摩押人伸手於其中、若游泳者之伸手然、惟主必降其驕志、敗其手所行詭譎之事、

They will stretch out their hands in it, as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim. God will bring down their pride despite the cleverness of their hands.

They will try to swim their way out of it. They will spread out their hands in it, just as swimmers spread out their hands to swim. But God will bring down Moab’s pride. None of their skill will help them.

And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim, but the Lord will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands.

God will push down Moab’s people as a swimmer pushes down water with his hands. He will end their pride and all their evil works.

He will spread out his arms in the middle of it, as a swimmer spreads out his arms to swim. His pride will be brought low, along with the trickery of his hands.

And he will spread out his hands in the middle of it As a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim, But the Lord will lay low his pride together with the trickery of his hands.

And He will spread out His hands in their midst As a swimmer reaches out to swim, And He will bring down their pride Together with the trickery of their hands.

And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst thereof, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim; but Jehovah will lay low his pride together with the craft of his hands.

He will spread out his arms in the middle of it, as a swimmer spreads out his arms to swim. His pride will be brought low, along with the trickery of his hands.

And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth[ his hands] to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.

He will spread out his hands in the middle of it, like one who swims spreads out hands to swim, but his pride will be humbled together with the craft of his hands.

So the LORD is furious with his people; he lifts his hand and strikes them. The mountains shake, and corpses lie like manure in the middle of the streets. Despite all this, his anger does not subside, and his hand is ready to strike again.

This is the plan I have devised for the whole earth; my hand is ready to strike all the nations.”

Proud men will be brought low, arrogant men will be humiliated; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

Now the LORD makes this announcement:“ Within exactly three years Moab’s splendor will disappear, along with all her many people; there will be just a few, insignificant survivors left.”

We have heard about Moab’s pride, their great arrogance, their boasting, pride, and excess. But their boastful claims are empty!

Then he angrily speaks to them and terrifies them in his rage, saying,

Moab will be destroyed and no longer be a nation, because she has vaunted herself against the LORD.

like heat in a dry land, you humble the boasting foreigners. Just as the shadow of a cloud causes the heat to subside, so he causes the song of tyrants to cease.

So I will assign him a portion with the multitudes, he will divide the spoils of victory with the powerful, because he willingly submitted to death and was numbered with the rebels, when he lifted up the sin of many and intervened on behalf of the rebels.”

I will punish the god Bel in Babylon. I will make him spit out what he has swallowed. The nations will not come streaming to him any longer. Indeed, the walls of Babylon will fall.”

I will punish the world for its evil, and wicked people for their sin. I will put an end to the pride of the insolent, I will bring down the arrogance of tyrants.

I spread out my hands all day long to my rebellious people, who lived in a way that is morally unacceptable, and who did what they desired.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, for all his deeds are right and his ways are just. He is able to bring down those who live in pride.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

Look, the sovereign master, the LORD who commands armies, is ready to cut off the branches with terrifying power. The tallest trees will be cut down, the loftiest ones will be brought low.

“ Listen! I am opposed to you, you proud city,” says the Lord GOD who rules over all.“ Indeed, your day of reckoning has come, the time when I will punish you.You will stumble and fall, you proud city; no one will help you get up. I will set fire to your towns; it will burn up everything that surrounds you.”

Disarming the rulers and authorities, he has made a public disgrace of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Repay her the same way she repaid others; pay her back double corresponding to her deeds. In the cup she mixed, mix double the amount for her.As much as she exalted herself and lived in sensual luxury, to this extent give her torment and grief because she said to herself,‘ I rule as queen and am no widow; I will never experience grief!’For this reason, she will experience her plagues in a single day: disease, mourning, and famine, and she will be burned down with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is powerful!”

to eat your fill of the flesh of kings, the flesh of generals, the flesh of powerful people, the flesh of horses and those who ride them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, and small and great!”Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to do battle with the one who rode the horse and with his army.Now the beast was seized, and along with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf– signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur.

I have heard how proud the people of Moab are, I know how haughty they are. I have heard how arrogant, proud, and haughty they are, what a high opinion they have of themselves.

Here is the LORD’s proclamation to my lord:“ Sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool!”The LORD extends your dominion from Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies!Your people willingly follow you when you go into battle. On the holy hills at sunrise the dew of your youth belongs to you.The LORD makes this promise on oath and will not revoke it:“ You are an eternal priest after the pattern of Melchizedek.”O sovereign LORD, at your right hand he strikes down kings in the day he unleashes his anger.He executes judgment against the nations; he fills the valleys with corpses; he shatters their heads over the vast battlefield.From the stream along the road he drinks; then he lifts up his head.

Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your personal property.You will break them with an iron scepter; you will smash them like a potter’s jar!’”So now, you kings, do what is wise; you rulers of the earth, submit to correction!Serve the LORD in fear! Repent in terror!Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!
