For all this his anger has not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.He will raise a signal for nations far away, and whistle for them from the ends of the earth; and behold, quickly, speedily they come!None is weary, none stumbles, none slumbers or sleeps, not a waistband is loose, not a sandal strap broken;their arrows are sharp, all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs seem like flint, and their wheels like the whirlwind.Their roaring is like a lion, like young lions they roar; they growl and seize their prey; they carry it off, and none can rescue.They will growl over it on that day, like the growling of the sea. And if one looks to the land, behold, darkness and distress; and the light is darkened by its clouds.

Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me,“ Lift your eyes and see what this is that is going out.”And I said,“ What is it?” He said,“ This is the basket that is going out.” And he said,“ This is their iniquity in all the land.”And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket!And he said,“ This is Wickedness.” And he thrust her back into the basket, and thrust down the leaden weight on its opening.

For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.

“ My transgressions were bound into a yoke; by his hand they were fastened together; they were set upon my neck; he caused my strength to fail; the Lord gave me into the hands of those whom I cannot withstand.

My dwelling is plucked up and removed from me like a shepherd’s tent; like a weaver I have rolled up my life; he cuts me off from the loom; from day to night you bring me to an end;

But rebels and sinners shall be broken together, and those who forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

“ Then you shall say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, be drunk and vomit, fall and rise no more, because of the sword that I am sending among you.’

they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end.

so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.
