it will be the same for priest as for people, for the master as for his servant, for the mistress as for her servant, for seller as for buyer, for borrower as for lender, for debtor as for creditor.

Priests and people alike will suffer. So will masters and their servants. And so will women and their female servants. Sellers and buyers alike will suffer. So will those who borrow and those who lend. And so will those who owe money and those who lend it.

The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath[ is] upon all the multitude thereof.For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision[ is] touching the whole multitude thereof,[ which] shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:

Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured.They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.

For the sins of her prophets,[ and] the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed,[ and] fall in the land of Egypt; they shall[ even] be consumed by the sword[ and] by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration,[ and] an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery[ ways] in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them,[ even] the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

O LORD,[ are] not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them,[ but] they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.Therefore I said, Surely these[ are] poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD,[ nor] the judgment of their God.I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD,[ and] the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke,[ and] burst the bonds.Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them,[ and] a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many,[ and] their backslidings are increased.

Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.The ancient and honourable, he[ is] the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he[ is] the tail.For the leaders of this people cause[ them] to err; and[ they that are] led of them[ are] destroyed.Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one[ is] an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand[ is] stretched out still.

Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

Thou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury:Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.

Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether[ he be] bond or free.And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As mine anger and my fury hath been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt: and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and ye shall see this place no more.

And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I[ am] the LORD.And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh[ unto him];

The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.And I will give children[ to be] their princes, and babes shall rule over them.And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father,[ saying], Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and[ let] this ruin[ be] under thy hand:In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house[ is] neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings[ are] against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.
