The Lord has stretched out his hand over the sea and made its kingdoms tremble. He has given an order concerning Phoenicia that her fortresses be destroyed.

The Lord has reached his powerful hand out over the sea. He has made its kingdoms tremble with fear. He has given a command concerning Phoenicia. He has ordered that its forts be destroyed.

By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter into a city wherein is made a breach.

[ He is] a merchant, the balances of deceit[ are] in his hand: he loveth to oppress.And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance:[ in] all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that[ were] sin.

Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles shake at the sound of thy fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble at[ every] moment, and be astonished at thee.And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed,[ that wast] inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city, which wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror[ to be] on all that haunt it!Now shall the isles tremble in the day of thy fall; yea, the isles that[ are] in the sea shall be troubled at thy departure.For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;

And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee,[ that] no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.

The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee,[ and] consider thee,[ saying, Is] this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;[ That] made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof;[ that] opened not the house of his prisoners?

And he said, Cursed[ be] Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

For thou hast made of a city an heap;[ of] a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.

And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap,[ and] the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.

And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river,[ is] her revenue; and she is a mart of nations.

How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.

I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou[ art] my rock and my fortress.
