我要惩罚巴比伦的彼勒，使它吐出所吞之物。列国必不再流归到它那里，巴比伦的城墙也必坍塌。

巴比伦为列国的荣耀，为迦勒底人所夸耀的华美，必像上帝所倾覆的所多玛、蛾摩拉一样；

有一位大力的天使举起一块石头，好像大磨石，扔在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样猛力地被扔下去，绝对见不到了。

所以，看哪，日子将到，我必惩罚巴比伦雕刻的偶像，在全境内到处都有刺伤的人在呻吟。这是耶和华说的。

看哪，因我必激起大国联盟，带领他们从北方来攻击巴比伦，他们要摆阵攻击它，它必在那里被攻取。他们的箭好像善射勇士的箭，绝不徒然返回。

说：‘巴比伦因耶和华所要降与它的灾祸，必如此沉下去，不再浮起来，百姓也必困乏。’”耶利米的话到此为止。

有干旱临到它的众水，它们就必干涸；因为这是雕刻偶像之地，人因偶像颠狂。

所以，看哪，日子将到，我必惩罚巴比伦雕刻的偶像。它的全地必然抱愧，它被杀的人必仆倒在其上。

他们拿弓和枪，性情残忍，毫不留情；他们的声音像海浪澎湃。巴比伦啊，他们骑着马，如上战场的人摆列队伍，要攻击你。

你们要在万国中传扬，宣告，竖立大旗；要宣告，不可隐瞒，说：“巴比伦被攻取，彼勒蒙羞，米罗达惊惶。巴比伦的神像都蒙羞，它的偶像都惊惶。”因有一国从北方上来攻击它，使它的地荒凉，无人居住，连人带牲畜都逃走了。

你们要招集一切弓箭手来攻击巴比伦，在巴比伦四围安营，不容一人逃脱。要照着它所做的报应它；它怎样待人，你们也要怎样待它，因为它向耶和华—以色列的圣者狂傲。

你必唱这诗歌嘲讽巴比伦王说：“欺压人的竟然灭亡！他的凶暴竟然止息！

彼勒叩拜，尼波屈身；巴比伦的偶像驮在走兽和牲畜背上。你们所抬的成了重驮，使牲畜疲乏。这些神明一同屈身叩拜，不能救自己，反倒遭人掳去。

你们要在境内竖立大旗，在列邦中吹角，使列邦预备攻击巴比伦。要招集亚拉腊、米尼、亚实基拿各国前来攻击它，派将军攻击它，使马匹上来如粗暴的蝗虫；
