For this is what the sovereign master has told me:“ Go, post a guard! He must report what he sees.

This is what the Lord says to me:“ Go, post a lookout and have him report what he sees.

The Lord said to me,“ Go. Put a guard on duty on Jerusalem’s walls. Have him report what he sees.

For thus the Lord said to me:“ Go, set a watchman; let him announce what he sees.

Meanwhile, the Lord said to me,“ Put a watchman on the city wall. Let him shout out what he sees.

For the Lord has said to me,“ Go, post a lookout; let him report what he sees.

For this is what the Lord says to me:“ Go, station the lookout, have him report what he sees.

For thus has the Lord said to me:“ Go, set a watchman, Let him declare what he sees.”

For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman; let him declare what he seeth:

For the Lord has said to me,“ Go, post a lookout; let him report what he sees.

I will stand at my watch post; I will remain stationed on the city wall. I will keep watching, so I can see what he says to me and can know how I should answer when he counters my argument.The LORD responded:“ Write down this message! Record it legibly on tablets, so the one who announces it may read it easily.

Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel and saw Jehu’s troops approaching. He said,“ I see troops!” Jehoram ordered,“ Send a rider out to meet them and have him ask,‘ Is everything all right?’”So the horseman went to meet him and said,“ This is what the king says,‘ Is everything all right?’” Jehu replied,“ None of your business! Follow me.” The watchman reported,“ The messenger reached them, but hasn’t started back.”So he sent a second horseman out to them and he said,“ This is what the king says,‘ Is everything all right?’” Jehu replied,“ None of your business! Follow me.”The watchman reported,“ He reached them, but hasn’t started back. The one who drives the lead chariot drives like Jehu son of Nimshi; he drives recklessly.”

“ Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must give them a warning from me.

“ Son of man, speak to your people, and say to them,‘ Suppose I bring a sword against the land, and the people of the land take one man from their borders and make him their watchman.He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, and warns the people,but there is one who hears the sound of the trumpet yet does not heed the warning. Then the sword comes and sweeps him away. He will be responsible for his own death.He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.But suppose the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people. Then the sword comes and takes one of their lives. He is swept away for his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for that person’s death.’“ As for you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you must warn them on my behalf.

I post watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they should keep praying all day and all night. You who pray to the LORD, don’t be silent!

Give the signal to attack Babylon’s wall! Bring more guards! Post them all around the city! Put men in ambush! For the LORD will do what he has planned. He will do what he said he would do to the people of Babylon.“ You who live along the rivers of Babylon, the time of your end has come. You who are rich in plundered treasure, it is time for your lives to be cut off.
