My heart falters, fear makes me tremble; the twilight I longed for has become a horror to me.

Belshazzar the king held a great feast for a thousand of his nobles, and he was drinking wine in the presence of the thousand.

And Esther said,“ A foe and an enemy is this wicked Haman!” Then Haman became terrified before the king and queen.The king then got up in his anger from drinking wine and went into the palace garden; but Haman stayed to beg for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm had been determined against him by the king.Now when the king returned from the palace garden into the place where they had been drinking wine, Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said,“ Will he even assault the queen with me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who stood before the king, said,“ Indeed, behold, the wooden gallows standing at Haman’s house fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai who spoke good in behalf of the king!” And the king said,“ Hang him on it.”So they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai, and the king’s anger subsided.

Haman also said,“ Even Esther the queen let no one except me come with the king to the banquet which she had prepared; and tomorrow also I am invited by her with the king.

“ But be on your guard, so that your hearts will not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that this day will not come on you suddenly, like a trap;for it will come upon all those who live on the face of all the earth.But stay alert at all times, praying that you will have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

“ I will make her leaders and her wise men drunk, Her governors, her officials, and her warriors, So that they will sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake up,” Declares the King, whose name is the Lord of armies.

Suddenly the fingers of a human hand emerged and began writing opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, and the king saw the back of the hand that did the writing.

Then Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was having a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was cheerful within him, for he was very drunk; so she did not tell him anything at all until the morning light.But in the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him so that he became like a stone.About ten days later, the Lord struck Nabal and he died.

Like tangled thorns, And like those who are drunken with their drink, They are consumed Like stubble completely dried up.
