Those who trusted in Cush and boasted in Egypt will be dismayed and put to shame.

People trusted in Cush to help them. They bragged about what Egypt could do for them. But they will lose heart and be put to shame.

Yahweh says:“ Cursed is the man who trusts in man, relies on strength of flesh, and whose heart departs from Yahweh.

Don’t let the rich man glory in his riches.But let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth; for I delight in these things,” says Yahweh.

Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,

Now, behold, you trust in the staff of this bruised reed, even in Egypt. If a man leans on it, it will go into his hand, and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him.

Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?

For Egypt helps in vain, and to no purpose; therefore I have called her Rahab who sits still.
