Then the Lord said,“ Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush,

After Ashdod was captured, the Lord said,“ My servant Isaiah has gone around barefoot and naked for three years. He is a sign and reminder to Egypt and Cush about what will happen to them.

Then the Lord said,“ As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a portent against Egypt and Cush,

Then the Lord said,“ My servant Isaiah has been walking around naked and barefoot for the last three years. This is a sign— a symbol of the terrible troubles I will bring upon Egypt and Ethiopia.

the LORD said,“ As my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot three years as a sign and omen against Egypt and Cush,

Then the Lord said,“ Even as My servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and symbol against Egypt and Cush,

Then the Lord said,“ Just as My servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder against Egypt and Ethiopia,

And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia;

the Lord said,“ As My servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot three years as a sign and omen against Egypt and Cush,

And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years[ for] a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

Later the LORD explained,“ In the same way that my servant Isaiah has walked around in undergarments and barefoot for the past three years, as an object lesson and omen pertaining to Egypt and Cush,

Yahweh said,“ As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

Here am I, and the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion. (niv)

For forty years— one year for each of the forty days you explored the land— you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.’ (niv)

But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” (niv)

Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the king of Cush, was marching out to fight against him. When he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah with this word: (niv)

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. (niv)

Woe to the land of whirring wings along the rivers of Cush,which sends envoys by sea in papyrus boats over the water. Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it.This is what the Lord says to me:“ I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches.They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey and to the wild animals; the birds will feed on them all summer, the wild animals all winter.At that time gifts will be brought to the Lord Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the Lord Almighty. I have assigned you the same number of days as the years of their sin. So for 390 days you will bear the sin of the people of Israel.“ After you have finished this, lie down again, this time on your right side, and bear the sin of the people of Judah. I have assigned you 40 days, a day for each year. (niv)
