Stop trusting in human beings, whose life’s breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?

勿恃世人、彼之生氣、僅在鼻中、何足算哉、

斯人也、呼吸之氣、出入於口、安能助人、勿以為可恃。

毋恃世人、世人僅有鼻中出入之生氣、出入之生氣或作呼吸之氣何足算哉、

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?

Stop trusting in mere human beings, who can’t help you. They only live for a little while. What good are they?

Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?

Put no more trust in a mere human, who has only the breath in his nostrils. What is he really worth?

Take no account of man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils; For why should he be esteemed?

Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?

Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?

Put no more trust in man, who has only the breath in his nostrils. What is he really worth?

The LORD says,“ I will put a curse on people who trust in mere human beings, who depend on mere flesh and blood for their strength, and whose hearts have turned away from the LORD.

Do not trust in princes, or in human beings, who cannot deliver!

O LORD, of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should be concerned about them?People are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears.

You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes.

Of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should pay attention to them,

for while my spirit is still in me, and the breath from God is in my nostrils,

The LORD God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

so that I would prefer strangling, and death more than life.I loathe it; I do not want to live forever; leave me alone, for my days are a vapor!“ What is mankind that you make so much of them, and that you pay attention to them?And that you visit them every morning, and try them every moment?Will you never look away from me, will you not let me alone long enough to swallow my spittle?If I have sinned– what have I done to you, O watcher of men? Why have you set me as your target? Have I become a burden to you?And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now I will lie down in the dust, and you will seek me diligently, but I will be gone.”

Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.

Look, the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales. He lifts the coastlands as if they were dust.

Men are nothing but a mere breath; human beings are unreliable. When they are weighed in the scales, all of them together are lighter than air.
