Cease ye from man, whose breath[ is] in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?

斯人也、呼吸之氣、出入於口、安能助人、勿以為可恃。

毋恃世人、世人僅有鼻中出入之生氣、出入之生氣或作呼吸之氣何足算哉、

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?

Stop trusting in mere human beings, who can’t help you. They only live for a little while. What good are they?

Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?

Put no more trust in a mere human, who has only the breath in his nostrils. What is he really worth?

Take no account of man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils; For why should he be esteemed?

Sever yourselves from such a man, Whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed[ be] the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

Put not your trust in princes,[ nor] in the son of man, in whom[ there is] no help.

LORD, what[ is] man, that thou takest knowledge of him![ or] the son of man, that thou makest account of him!Man is like to vanity: his days[ are] as a shadow that passeth away.

Whereas ye know not what[ shall be] on the morrow. For what[ is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

All the while my breath[ is] in me, and the spirit of God[ is] in my nostrils;

And the LORD God formed man[ of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

So that my soul chooseth strangling,[ and] death rather than my life.I loathe[ it]; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days[ are] vanity.What[ is] man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?And[ that] thou shouldest visit him every morning,[ and] try him every moment?How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I[ shall] not[ be].

All in whose nostrils[ was] the breath of life, of all that[ was] in the dry[ land], died.

Behold, the nations[ are] as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

Surely men of low degree[ are] vanity,[ and] men of high degree[ are] a lie: to be laid in the balance, they[ are] altogether[ lighter] than vanity.
