In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation.

At that time the strong cities in Israel will be deserted. They will be as they were when the Israelites drove the Canaanites away. They will be like places that are taken over by bushes and weeds. The whole land will become dry and empty.

In that day their strong cities will be like the deserted places of the wooded heights and the hilltops, which they deserted because of the children of Israel, and there will be desolation.

Their largest cities will be like a deserted forest, like the land the Hivites and Amorites abandoned when the Israelites came here so long ago. It will be utterly desolate.

On that day their strong cities will be like the abandoned woods and mountaintops that were abandoned because of the Israelites; there will be desolation.

On that day their strong cities will be like abandoned places in the forest, Or like branches which they abandoned before the sons of Israel; And the land will be a desolation.

坚固的城变为凄凉，成了被撇下、被遗弃的居所，像旷野一样；牛犊在那里吃草、躺卧，吃尽那里的树枝。

祸哉！以法莲酒徒的高傲冠冕——荣耀华美的将残之花！它就在醉酒人肥沃之谷的山顶上。看哪！主有一位大能大力者，如冰雹暴雨，如毁灭的狂风，又如汹涌冲击的雨水；他必亲手把它摔落在地。以法莲酒徒的高傲冠冕，必被踩踏在脚下；在肥沃之谷的山顶上，荣耀华美的将残之花，必像夏天之前初熟的无花果；人看见它，一拿到手中就会吞掉。

以法莲和住撒马利亚的众民知道了，就心思自高自大，说：“砖头坠落了，我们就用凿好的石头重建；桑树砍倒了，我们就用香柏树更换！”因此，耶和华必兴起利汛的敌人来攻击以色列，并且要激起以色列的仇敌，东有亚兰人，西有非利士人，来张口吞噬以色列。即使如此，耶和华的怒气还不转消，他的手仍然伸出。

看哪！耶和华使大地空废，变得荒凉；又使地面扭曲，使地上的居民四散。那时，百姓怎样，祭司也怎样；仆人怎样，主人也怎样；婢女怎样，主母也怎样；购买的怎样，贩卖的也怎样；借给人的怎样，向人借的也怎样；放债的怎样，借债的也怎样。大地必彻底空废，被掠夺净尽，因为耶和华已经说了这话。大地悲凉凋萎，世界衰落凋萎，地上权高位重的人也衰落了。大地被其上的居民玷污，因为他们违背律法，违犯律例，破坏永远的约。因此诅咒吞噬大地，其上的居民必承担罪责；因此地上的居民被焚烧，只有少数人残留下来。新酒枯竭，葡萄树衰残，心里欢乐的都叹息。欢快的鼓声止息，欢腾者的喧嚷停止，欢快的琴声也止息了。他们不再喝酒唱歌；烈酒对饮者也变得苦涩。荒凉的城邑破败，家家关门闭户，无人能进。街上有为酒哭喊的声音；一切欢乐都已黯淡，地上的喜乐都已离去。城中只有废墟残留，城门被打得破碎不堪。

因为在这孩子知道弃恶择善之前，你所惧怕的那两个王的土地必被遗弃。耶和华必使亚述王攻击的日子临到你、你的子民和你的父家；这是自从以法莲脱离犹大以来，未曾有过的日子。“到那日，耶和华必发出哨声，召来埃及江河源头的苍蝇和亚述地的刺蜂。它们全都会飞来，停落在深谷中、岩石缝里、所有的荆棘丛中、所有的草场上。“到那日，主必雇用幼发拉底河对岸的剃刀——亚述王，剃光你们的头发和脚毛，也刮掉你们的胡须。

我就说：“主啊，这要到什么时候呢？”他说：“直到城镇废弃，无人居住，房屋空无一人，土地废弃荒凉的时候；那时，耶和华必把人迁到远方，在这地上必有很多被遗弃之处。这地必被再次焚烧，其中还会有十分之一的人存留，就像黄连树和橡树被砍伐，其中还会有树桩存留；圣洁的后裔就是这树桩。”

“到那日，雅各的荣耀必衰微，他肥壮的身体必消瘦；但事情却要像这样成就：当收割的人聚拢禾杆、用手割取穗子，拾穗的人在利乏音谷捡拾穗子时，
