For Hezekiah prayed for them, saying:“ May the LORD, who is good, forgiveeveryone who has determined to follow God, the LORD God of his ancestors, even if he is not ceremonially clean according to the standards of the temple.”The LORD responded favorably to Hezekiah and forgave the people.

So the Israelites who were present observed the Passover at that time, as well as the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.A Passover like this had not been observed in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet. I will do this because I am Israel’s father; Ephraim is my firstborn son.’”Hear what the LORD has to say, O nations. Proclaim it in the faraway lands along the sea. Say,“ The one who scattered Israel will regather them. He will watch over his people like a shepherd watches over his flock.”

Indeed they have followed sinful ways; they have forgotten to be true to the LORD their God.Come back to me, you wayward people. I want to cure your waywardness. Say,‘ Here we are. We come to you because you are the LORD our God.We know our noisy worship of false gods on the hills and mountains did not help us. We know that the LORD our God is the only one who can deliver Israel.

At that time the deaf will be able to hear words read from a scroll, and the eyes of the blind will be able to see through deep darkness.The downtrodden will again rejoice in the LORD; the poor among humankind will take delight in the Holy One of Israel.

Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for your sin has been your downfall!Return to the LORD and repent! Say to him:“ Completely forgive our iniquity; accept our penitential prayer, that we may offer the praise of our lips as sacrificial bulls.Assyria cannot save us; we will not ride warhorses. We will never again say,‘ Our gods’ to what our own hands have made. For only you will show compassion to Orphan Israel!”
