Yet I will not totally destroy the descendants of Jacob,” declares the Lord.“ For I will give the command, and I will shake the people of Israel among all the nations as grain is shaken in a sieve, and not a pebble will reach the ground.All the sinners among my people will die by the sword, all those who say,‘ Disaster will not overtake or meet us.’

But now the Lord says:“ Within three years, as a servant bound by contract would count them, Moab’s splendor and all her many people will be despised, and her survivors will be very few and feeble.”

Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. Even if they bear children, I will slay their cherished offspring.”My God will reject them because they have not obeyed him; they will be wanderers among the nations.

So I will be like a lion to them, like a leopard I will lurk by the path.Like a bear robbed of her cubs, I will attack them and rip them open; like a lion I will devour them— a wild animal will tear them apart.

Israel is swallowed up; now she is among the nations like something no one wants.
