因为他们所负的重轭和肩头上的杖，并欺压他们人的棍，你都已经折断，好像在米甸的日子一样。

耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中杀了十八万五千人。清早有人起来一看，都是死尸了。亚述王西拿基立就拔营回去，住在尼尼微。一日在他的神尼斯洛庙里叩拜，他儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，就逃到亚拉腊地。他儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

现在我必从你颈项上折断他的轭，扭开他的绳索。”

因此，主万军之耶和华必使亚述王的肥壮人变为瘦弱，在他的荣华之下必有火着起，如同焚烧一样。以色列的光必如火；他的圣者必如火焰。在一日之间，将亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧净尽；又将他树林和肥田的荣耀全然烧尽，好像拿军旗的昏过去一样。他林中剩下的树必稀少，就是孩子也能写其数。

耶和华必使人听他威严的声音，又显他降罚的膀臂和他怒中的忿恨，并吞灭的火焰与霹雷、暴风、冰雹。亚述人必因耶和华的声音惊惶；耶和华必用杖击打他。耶和华必将命定的杖加在他身上；每打一下，人必击鼓弹琴。打仗的时候，耶和华必抡起手来，与他交战。原来陀斐特又深又宽，早已为王预备好了；其中堆的是火与许多木柴。耶和华的气如一股硫磺火使他着起来。

当那日，亚述王要在挪伯歇兵，向锡安女子的山，就是耶路撒冷的山，抡手攻他。看哪，主万军之耶和华以惊吓削去树枝；长高的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒。稠密的树林，他要用铁器砍下；黎巴嫩的树木必被大能者伐倒。

所以，主万军之耶和华如此说：“住锡安我的百姓啊，亚述王虽然用棍击打你，又照埃及的样子举杖攻击你，你却不要怕他。因为还有一点点时候，向你们发的忿恨就要完毕，我的怒气要向他发作，使他灭亡。万军之耶和华要兴起鞭来攻击他，好像在俄立磐石那里杀戮米甸人一样。耶和华的杖要向海伸出，把杖举起，像在埃及一样。到那日，亚述王的重担必离开你的肩头；他的轭必离开你的颈项；那轭也必因肥壮的缘故撑断。”

耶和华折断了恶人的杖，辖制人的圭，

亚述人必倒在刀下，并非人的刀；有刀要将他吞灭，并非人的刀。他必逃避这刀；他的少年人必成为服苦的。他的磐石必因惊吓挪去；他的首领必因大旗惊惶。这是那有火在锡安、有炉在耶路撒冷的耶和华说的。

主在锡安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的时候，主说：“我必罚亚述王自大的心和他高傲眼目的荣耀。”

你和你的军队，并同着你的列国人，都必倒在以色列的山上。我必将你给各类的鸷鸟和田野的走兽作食物。

唉！多民哄嚷，好像海浪砰訇；列邦奔腾，好像猛水滔滔；列邦奔腾，好像多水滔滔；但神斥责他们，他们就远远逃避，又被追赶，如同山上的风前糠，又如暴风前的旋风土。到晚上有惊吓，未到早晨他们就没有了。这是掳掠我们之人所得的份，是抢夺我们之人的报应。
