羣畜，就是各類的走獸必臥在其中，鵜鶘和豪豬要宿在柱頂；窗戶有鳴叫的聲音，門檻毀壞，他要毀壞香柏木板。

曠野的走獸躺臥在那裏，咆哮的動物擠滿棲身之所；鴕鳥住在那裏，山羊鬼魔也在那裏跳舞。土狼必在它的宮殿呼號，野狗在華美的殿裏吼叫。巴比倫的時辰臨近了，它的日子必不長久。

因此，看哪，我必使災禍臨到耶羅波安的家，把屬耶羅波安的男丁，無論是奴役的、自由的，都從以色列中剪除。我必除滅耶羅波安的家，如同人掃除糞土，直到消滅。

鵜鶘、豪豬要得它為業，貓頭鷹、烏鴉要住在其間。耶和華必將空虛的準繩、混沌的石垂線，拉在以東之上。人必宣稱那裏沒有王國，它的貴族和所有領袖都歸於無有。以東的宮殿要長出荊棘，城堡要生長蒺藜和刺草；成為野狗的住處，鴕鳥的居所。野獸要和土狼相遇，山羊鬼魔要與同伴對唱，莉莉絲必在那裏棲身，為自己尋找安歇之處。箭頭蛇要在那裏做窩，下蛋，孵蛋，並招聚幼蛇在其保護之下；鷂鷹也與伴侶聚集在那裏。

所以野獸和土狼必住在那裏，鴕鳥也住在其中，永遠無人居住，世世代代無人定居。巴比倫要像上帝所傾覆的所多瑪、蛾摩拉和鄰近的城鎮一樣，必無人住在那裏，也無人在其中寄居。這是耶和華說的。

有一位大力的天使舉起一塊石頭，好像大磨石，扔在海裏，說：「巴比倫大城也必這樣猛力地被扔下去，絕對見不到了。彈琴、歌唱、吹笛、吹號的聲音，在你中間絕對聽不見了；各行手藝的技工在你中間絕對見不到了；推磨的聲音在你中間絕對聽不見了；燈臺的光在你中間絕對不再照耀了；新郎和新娘的聲音在你中間絕對聽不見了。你的商人原來是地上的顯要；萬國也被你的邪術迷惑了。

行毀滅的山，看哪，我與你為敵，你毀滅全地，我必伸手攻擊你，將你從山巖滾下去，使你成為燒燬了的山。這是耶和華說的。人必不從你那裏取石頭為房角石，也不取石頭來作根基，因為你必永遠荒廢。這是耶和華說的。

我必用量撒瑪利亞的準繩和亞哈家的鉛垂線拉在耶路撒冷之上；我必擦拭耶路撒冷，如人擦盤子，把盤子翻過來。

另有第二位天使接着說：「傾覆了！那曾叫列國喝淫亂、烈怒之酒的大巴比倫傾覆了！」

他以強而有力的聲音喊着說：「傾覆了！大巴比倫傾覆了！她成了鬼魔的住處，各樣污穢之靈的巢穴，各樣污穢之鳥的窩，各樣污穢可憎之獸的出沒處。

海水漲起，漫過巴比倫；澎湃的海浪遮蓋了它。它的城鎮變廢墟，地變乾旱，成為沙漠，成為無人居住、無人經過之地。
