羣畜，就是各國的走獸必臥在其中；鵜鶘和箭豬要宿在柱頂上。在窗戶內有鳴叫的聲音；門檻都必毀壞，香柏木已經露出。

只有曠野的走獸臥在那裏；咆哮的獸滿了房屋。鴕鳥住在那裏；野山羊在那裏跳舞。豺狼必在它宮中呼號；野狗必在它華美殿內吼叫。巴比倫受罰的時候臨近；它的日子必不長久。

因此，我必使災禍臨到耶羅波安的家，將屬耶羅波安的男丁，無論困住的、自由的都從以色列中剪除，必除盡耶羅波安的家，如人除盡糞土一般。

鵜鶘、箭豬卻要得為業；貓頭鷹、烏鴉要住在其間。耶和華必將空虛的準繩，混沌的線鉈，拉在其上。以東人要召貴冑來治國；那裏卻無一個，首領也都歸於無有。以東的宮殿要長荊棘；保障要長蒺藜和刺草；要作野狗的住處，鴕鳥的居所。曠野的走獸要和豺狼相遇；野山羊要與伴偶對叫。夜間的怪物必在那裏棲身，自找安歇之處。箭蛇要在那裏做窩，下蛋，菢蛋，生子，聚子在其影下；鷂鷹各與伴偶聚集在那裏。

所以曠野的走獸和豺狼必住在那裏，鴕鳥也住在其中，永無人煙，世世代代無人居住。」耶和華說：「必無人住在那裏，也無人在其中寄居，要像我傾覆所多瑪、蛾摩拉，和鄰近的城邑一樣。

有一位大力的天使舉起一塊石頭，好像大磨石，扔在海裏，說：巴比倫大城也必這樣猛力地被扔下去，決不能再見了。彈琴、作樂、吹笛、吹號的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽見；各行手藝人在你中間決不能再遇見；推磨的聲音在你中間決不能再聽見；燈光在你中間決不能再照耀；新郎和新婦的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽見。你的客商原來是地上的尊貴人；萬國也被你的邪術迷惑了。

耶和華說：你這行毀滅的山哪，就是毀滅天下的山，我與你反對。我必向你伸手，將你從山巖滾下去，使你成為燒毀的山。人必不從你那裏取石頭為房角石，也不取石頭為根基石；你必永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。

我必用量撒馬利亞的準繩和亞哈家的線鉈拉在耶路撒冷上，必擦淨耶路撒冷，如人擦盤，將盤倒扣。

又有第二位天使接着說：「叫萬民喝邪淫、大怒之酒的巴比倫大城傾倒了！傾倒了！」

他大聲喊着說：巴比倫大城傾倒了！傾倒了！成了鬼魔的住處和各樣污穢之靈的巢穴，並各樣污穢可憎之雀鳥的巢穴。

海水漲起，漫過巴比倫；她被許多海浪遮蓋。她的城邑變為荒場、旱地、沙漠，無人居住，無人經過之地。
