“ I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord Almighty.

群畜，就是各国的走兽必卧在其中；鹈鹕和箭猪要宿在柱顶上。在窗户内有鸣叫的声音；门槛都必毁坏，香柏木已经露出。

只有旷野的走兽卧在那里；咆哮的兽满了房屋。鸵鸟住在那里；野山羊在那里跳舞。豺狼必在它宫中呼号；野狗必在它华美殿内吼叫。巴比伦受罚的时候临近；它的日子必不长久。

因此，我必使灾祸临到耶罗波安的家，将属耶罗波安的男丁，无论困住的、自由的都从以色列中剪除，必除尽耶罗波安的家，如人除尽粪土一般。

鹈鹕、箭猪却要得为业；猫头鹰、乌鸦要住在其间。耶和华必将空虚的准绳，混沌的线铊，拉在其上。以东人要召贵胄来治国；那里却无一个，首领也都归于无有。以东的宫殿要长荆棘；保障要长蒺藜和刺草；要作野狗的住处，鸵鸟的居所。旷野的走兽要和豺狼相遇；野山羊要与伴偶对叫。夜间的怪物必在那里栖身，自找安歇之处。箭蛇要在那里做窝，下蛋，抱蛋，生子，聚子在其影下；鹞鹰各与伴偶聚集在那里。

所以旷野的走兽和豺狼必住在那里，鸵鸟也住在其中，永无人烟，世世代代无人居住。”耶和华说：“必无人住在那里，也无人在其中寄居，要像我倾覆所多玛、蛾摩拉，和邻近的城邑一样。

有一位大力的天使举起一块石头，好像大磨石，扔在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样猛力地被扔下去，决不能再见了。弹琴、作乐、吹笛、吹号的声音，在你中间决不能再听见；各行手艺人在你中间决不能再遇见；推磨的声音在你中间决不能再听见；灯光在你中间决不能再照耀；新郎和新妇的声音，在你中间决不能再听见。你的客商原来是地上的尊贵人；万国也被你的邪术迷惑了。”

耶和华说：“你这行毁灭的山哪，就是毁灭天下的山，我与你反对。我必向你伸手，将你从山岩滚下去，使你成为烧毁的山。人必不从你那里取石头为房角石，也不取石头为根基石；你必永远荒凉。这是耶和华说的。”

我必用量撒玛利亚的准绳和亚哈家的线铊拉在耶路撒冷上，必擦净耶路撒冷，如人擦盘，将盘倒扣。

又有第二位天使接着说：“叫万民喝邪淫、大怒之酒的巴比伦大城倾倒了！倾倒了！”

他大声喊着说：“巴比伦大城倾倒了！倾倒了！成了鬼魔的住处和各样污秽之灵的巢穴，并各样污秽可憎之雀鸟的巢穴。

海水涨起，漫过巴比伦；他被许多海浪遮盖。他的城邑变为荒场、旱地、沙漠，无人居住，无人经过之地。
