“ I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord Almighty.

躺臥在那裡的，只有曠野的走獸；充滿著他們房屋的，只有吼叫著的野獸；鴕鳥住在那裡，野山羊在那裡跳躍。豺狼必在巴比倫的宮中呼號，野狗必在他們華美的殿裡吠叫。巴比倫受罰的時候臨近了，它的日子必不長久。

因此，我必使災禍臨到耶羅波安的家；我必剪除以色列中所有屬於耶羅波安的男丁，無論是自由的或是不自由的；我必剷除耶羅波安的家，像人掃除糞土一樣，直到完全除盡為止。

但鵜鶘與箭豬要佔據那地，貓頭鷹和烏鴉必住在其中。耶和華必把混沌的準繩、空虛的線鉈，拉在其上。它的顯貴一個也沒有了，以致不能稱為一國，所有的領袖也沒有了。以東的宮殿必長荊棘，它的堡壘必長蒺藜和刺草；它要作野狗的住處，作鴕鳥的居所。曠野的走獸必與豺狼相遇，野山羊必呼喊牠的同伴；連夜間的怪物也必在那裡棲身，為自己尋找休息的地方。箭蛇要在那裡築窩、下蛋、孵蛋，並且聚子在牠的陰影下；鷂鷹也各與自己的伴偶，聚集在那裡。

曠野的走獸和豺狼必住在那裡，鴕鳥也必住在其中；那地永遠再沒有人居住，世世代代不再有人住在那裡，就像神傾覆的所多瑪、蛾摩拉，和它們鄰近的城鎮一樣；必沒有人住在那裡，也必沒有人在那裡寄居。”這是耶和華的宣告。

有一位大力的天使，把一塊好像大磨石一樣的石頭，舉起來拋在海裡，說：“巴比倫大城也必這樣被猛力地拋下去，決不能再找到了！彈琴、奏樂、吹笛、吹號的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！各樣手藝技工，在你中間決不能再找到了！推磨的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！燈的亮光，在你中間決不能再照耀了！新郎新娘的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽到了！你的商人一向都是地上的大人物，萬國都因你的邪術受了迷惑。

“行毀滅的山哪，就是毀滅全地的山哪！我要和你作對，我要伸手攻擊你，使你從山巖上滾下來，使你成為燒毀了的山。”這是耶和華的宣告。“人必不從你那裡取石頭作房角石，也不從你那裡取石頭作基石，因為你必永遠荒涼。”這是耶和華的宣告。

我要用量度撒瑪利亞的準繩和測試亞哈家的鉛錘，測量耶路撒冷；我要抹淨耶路撒冷，像人抹淨盤子一樣。抹完了，就把盤子翻轉過來。

又有第二位天使接著說：“傾倒了！大巴比倫傾倒了！它曾經叫列國喝它淫亂烈怒的酒。”

他用強有力的聲音呼喊說：“傾倒了！大巴比倫傾倒了！成了鬼魔的住處，各樣污靈的監獄，一切污穢可憎之雀鳥的牢籠，

大海上漲漫過巴比倫，它被洶湧的波浪淹沒。它的城鎮變為荒涼，成為乾旱的地和沙漠，沒有人住在裡面，也沒有人經過。
