The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob.

The Lord will show tender love toward Jacob’s people. Once again he will choose Israel. He’ll give them homes in their own land. Outsiders will join them. They and the people of Jacob will become one people.

But the Lord will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as his special people once again. He will bring them back to settle once again in their own land. And people from many different nations will come and join them there and unite with the people of Israel.

remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the people of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.But now in Christ Jesus you who previously were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,by abolishing in His flesh the hostility, which is the Law composed of commandments expressed in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two one new person, in this way establishing peace;and that He might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the hostility.And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near;for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,

So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the Lord of armies in Jerusalem, and to plead for the favor of the Lord.’The Lord of armies says this:‘ In those days ten people from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying,“ Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ”

“ For a brief moment I abandoned you, But with great compassion I will gather you.In an outburst of anger I hid My face from you for a moment, But with everlasting favor I will have compassion on you,” Says the Lord your Redeemer.

Behold, I am bringing them from the north country, And I will gather them from the remote parts of the earth, Among them those who are blind and those who limp, The pregnant woman and she who is in labor, together; They will return here as a great assembly.They will come with weeping, And by pleading I will bring them; I will lead them by streams of waters, On a straight path on which they will not stumble; For I am a father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.”Hear the word of the Lord, you nations, And declare it in the coastlands far away, And say,“ He who scattered Israel will gather him, And He will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.”For the Lord has ransomed Jacob And redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.“ They will come and shout for joy on the height of Zion, And they will be radiant over the bounty of the Lord— Over the grain, the new wine, the oil, And over the young of the flock and the herd. And their life will be like a watered garden, And they will never languish again.

And they raised their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother in law, but Ruth clung to her.Then she said,“ Behold, your sister in law has gone back to her people and her gods; return after your sister in law.”But Ruth said,“ Do not plead with me to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you sleep, I will sleep. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord do so to me, and worse, if anything but death separates me from you.”When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her about it.

Simeon has described how God first concerned Himself about taking a people for His name from among the Gentiles.The words of the Prophets agree with this, just as it is written:‘ After these things I will return, And I will rebuild the fallen tabernacle of David, And I will rebuild its ruins, And I will restore it,So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,’

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.When you are in distress and all these things happen to you, in the latter days you will return to the Lord your God and listen to His voice.For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He will not abandon you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.

“ And many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the Lord of armies has sent Me to you.And the Lord will possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again choose Jerusalem.

“ Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, To attend to His service and to love the name of the Lord, To be His servants, every one who keeps the Sabbath so as not to profane it, And holds firmly to My covenant;Even those I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”The Lord God, who gathers the dispersed of Israel, declares,“ I will yet gather others to them, to those already gathered.”

Behold, I am going to gather them out of all the lands to which I have driven them in My anger, in My wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them back to this place and have them live in safety.They shall be My people, and I will be their God;and I will give them one heart and one way, so that they will fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them.I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts, so that they will not turn away from Me.I will rejoice over them to do them good and will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and all My soul.

For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My name shall be great among the nations, and in every place frankincense is going to be offered to My name, and a grain offering that is pure; for My name shall be great among the nations,” says the Lord of armies.

And it will come about that after I have driven them out, I will again have compassion on them; and I will bring them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land.Then, if they will really learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name,‘ As the Lord lives,’ just as they taught My people to swear by Baal, they will be built up in the midst of My people.

“ In those days and at that time,” declares the Lord,“ the sons of Israel will come, they and the sons of Judah as well; they will go along weeping as they go, and it will be the Lord their God whom they will seek.They will ask for the way to Zion, turning their faces in its direction; they will come so that they may join themselves to the Lord in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.“ My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray. They have made them turn aside on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill, They have forgotten their resting place.

“ But now listen, Jacob, My servant, And Israel, whom I have chosen:

Therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on all the house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name.They will forget their disgrace and all their treachery which they perpetrated against Me, when they live securely on their own land with no one to make them afraid.When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall show Myself holy through them in the sight of the many nations.Then they will know that I am the Lord their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then I gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer.I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares the Lord God.

“ Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon has devoured me, he has crushed me, He has set me down like an empty vessel; He has swallowed me like a monster, He has filled his stomach with my delicacies; He has washed me away.May the violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon,” The inhabitant of Zion will say; And,“ May my blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea,” Jerusalem will say.Therefore this is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am going to plead your case And take vengeance for you; And I will dry up her sea And make her fountain dry.Babylon will become a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, An object of horror and hissing, without inhabitants.

“ Comfort, comfort My people,” says your God.“ Speak kindly to Jerusalem; And call out to her, that her warfare has ended, That her guilt has been removed, That she has received of the Lord’s hand Double for all her sins.”

In each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree arrived, there was joy and jubilation for the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many among the peoples of the land became Jews, because the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.

On that day Israel will be the third party to Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth,whom the Lord of armies has blessed, saying,“ Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”

For I will take you from the nations, and gather you from all the lands; and I will bring you into your own land.Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.And I will put My Spirit within you and bring it about that you walk in My statutes, and are careful and follow My ordinances.And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God.

then the Lord your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.If any of your scattered countrymen are at the ends of the earth, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will be good to you and make you more numerous than your fathers.

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ The sons of Israel are oppressed, And the sons of Judah as well; And all who took them captive have held them firmly, They have refused to let them go.

He has given help to His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy,

This is what the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One, Says to the despised One, To the One abhorred by the nation, To the Servant of rulers:“ Kings will see and arise, Princes will also bow down, Because of the Lord who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.”

Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.“ Raise your eyes all around and see; They all gather together, they come to you. Your sons will come from afar, And your daughters will be carried on the hip.Then you will see and be radiant, And your heart will thrill and rejoice; Because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you, The wealth of the nations will come to you.

“ Remember these things, Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant, Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me.I have wiped out your wrongdoings like a thick cloud And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land; and I will build them up and not overthrow them, and I will plant them and not uproot them.I will also give them a heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me wholeheartedly.

They will fall down dead in the land of the Chaldeans, And pierced through in their streets.”For neither Israel nor Judah has been forsaken By his God, the Lord of armies, Although their land is full of guilt Before the Holy One of Israel.Flee from the midst of Babylon, And each of you save his life! Do not perish in her punishment, For this is the Lord’s time of vengeance; He is going to repay to her what she deserves.

Remember, please, the word which You commanded Your servant Moses, saying,‘ If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples;but if you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though those of you who have been scattered were in the most remote part of the heavens, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I have chosen to have My name dwell.’

He has remembered His graciousness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

In the days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will blossom and sprout, And they will fill the whole world with fruit.

“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob And have compassion on his dwellings; And the city will be rebuilt on its ruins, And the palace will stand on its rightful place.From them will come a song of thanksgiving And the voices of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not decrease; I will honor them and they will not be insignificant.Their children also will be as before, And their congregation will be established before Me; And I will punish all their oppressors.Their leader shall be one of them, And their ruler will come out from their midst; And I will bring him near and he shall approach Me; For who would dare to risk his life to approach Me?’ declares the Lord.‘ You shall be My people, And I will be your God.’ ”

‘ But if they confess their wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of their forefathers, in their unfaithfulness which they committed against Me, and also in their acting with hostility against Me—I also was acting with hostility against them, to bring them into the land of their enemies— or if their uncircumcised heart is humbled so that they then make amends for their wrongdoing,then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will remember also My covenant with Isaac, and My covenant with Abraham as well, and I will remember the land.For the land will be abandoned by them, and will restore its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them. They, meanwhile, will be making amends for their wrongdoing, because they rejected My ordinances and their soul loathed My statutes.Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, nor will I so loathe them as to destroy them, breaking My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God.But I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, so that I might be their God. I am the Lord.’ ”

I will let Myself be found by you,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’

Shout for joy, you heavens! And rejoice, you earth! Break forth into joyful shouting, mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people And will have compassion on His afflicted.

To show mercy to our fathers, And to remember His holy covenant,The oath which He swore to our father Abraham,To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Would serve Him without fear,

Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.Your builders hurry; Your destroyers and devastators Will leave you.Raise your eyes and look around; All of them gather together, they come to you. As I live,” declares the Lord,“ You will certainly put them all on as jewelry and bind them on as a bride.For your ruins and deserted places and your destroyed land— Now you will certainly be too cramped for the inhabitants, And those who swallowed you will be far away.The children you lost will yet say in your ears,‘ The place is too cramped for me; Make room for me that I may live here.’Then you will say in your heart,‘ Who has fathered these for me, Since I have been bereaved of my children And cannot conceive, and I am an exile, and a wanderer? And who has raised these? Behold, I was left alone; Where are these from?’ ”This is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations And set up My flag to the peoples; And they will bring your sons in their arms, And your daughters will be carried on their shoulders.Kings will be your guardians, And their princesses your nurses. They will bow down to you with their faces to the ground And lick the dust from your feet; And you will know that I am the Lord; Those who hopefully wait for Me will not be put to shame.

“ Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven them away. The first one who devoured him was the king of Assyria, and this last one who has gnawed his bones is Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.Therefore this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ Behold, I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land, just as I punished the king of Assyria.And I will bring Israel back to his pasture and he will graze on Carmel and Bashan, and his desire will be satisfied in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead.In those days and at that time,’ declares the Lord,‘ search will be made for the wrongdoing of Israel, but there will be none; and for the sins of Judah, but they will not be found; for I will forgive those whom I leave as a remnant.’

Then they shall bring all your countrymen from all the nations as a grain offering to the Lord, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord,“ just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord.

And in Your faithfulness, destroy my enemies, And eliminate all those who attack my soul, For I am Your servant.

A light for revelation for the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

To Him who struck the Egyptians, that is, their firstborn, For His faithfulness is everlasting,And brought Israel out from their midst, For His faithfulness is everlasting,With a strong hand and an outstretched arm, For His faithfulness is everlasting.To Him who divided the Red Sea in parts, For His faithfulness is everlasting,And allowed Israel to pass through the midst of it, For His faithfulness is everlasting;But He overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, For His faithfulness is everlasting.To Him who led His people through the wilderness, For His faithfulness is everlasting;To Him who struck great kings, For His faithfulness is everlasting,And brought death to mighty kings, For His faithfulness is everlasting:Sihon, king of the Amorites, For His faithfulness is everlasting,And Og, king of Bashan, For His faithfulness is everlasting,And gave their land as an inheritance, For His faithfulness is everlasting,An inheritance to His servant Israel, For His faithfulness is everlasting.Who remembered us in our lowliness, For His faithfulness is everlasting,And has rescued us from our enemies, For His faithfulness is everlasting;

“ But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, Descendant of Abraham My friend,
