Listen, a noise on the mountains, like that of a great multitude! Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together! The Lord Almighty is mustering an army for war.

Listen! I hear a noise in the mountains. It sounds like a huge crowd. Listen! I hear a loud noise among the kingdoms. It sounds like nations gathering together. The Lord who rules over all is bringing an army together for war.

The sound of a tumult is on the mountains as of a great multitude! The sound of an uproar of kingdoms, of nations gathering together! The Lord of hosts is mustering a host for battle.

Hear the noise on the mountains! Listen, as the vast armies march! It is the noise and shouting of many nations. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has called this army together.

Listen, a commotion on the mountains, like that of a mighty people! Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations being gathered together! The LORD of Armies is mobilizing an army for war.

The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

There is a loud noise on the mountains– it sounds like a large army! There is great commotion among the kingdoms– nations are being assembled! The LORD who commands armies is mustering forces for battle.

The noise of a multitude is in the mountains, as of a great people; the noise of an uproar of the kingdoms of the nations gathered together! Yahweh of Armies is mustering the army for the battle.

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

“ Then I will compensate you for the years That the swarming locust has eaten, The creeping locust, the stripping locust, and the gnawing locust— My great army which I sent among you.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many crowns; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written:“ KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in midheaven,“ Come, assemble for the great feast of God,so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slaves, and small and great.”And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse, and against His army.And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone.And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Blow a trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, For the day of the Lord is coming; Indeed, it is near,A day of darkness and gloom, A day of clouds and thick darkness. As dawn is spread over the mountains, So there is a great and mighty people; There has never been anything like it, Nor will there be again after it To the years of many generations.A fire consumes before them, And behind them a flame devours. The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, But a desolate wilderness behind them, And nothing at all escapes them.Their appearance is like the appearance of horses; And like war horses, so they run.With a noise as of chariots They leap about on the tops of the mountains, Like the crackling of a flame of fire consuming the stubble, Like a mighty people drawn up for battle.Before them the people are in anguish; All faces turn pale.They run like warriors, They climb the wall like soldiers; And each of them marches in line, Nor do they lose their way.They do not crowd each other, Every warrior of them marches in his path; When they burst through the defenses, They do not break ranks.They storm the city, They run on the wall; They climb into the houses, They enter through the windows like a thief.Before them the earth quakes, The heavens tremble, The sun and the moon become dark, And the stars lose their brightness.The Lord utters His voice before His army; His camp is indeed very great, For mighty is one who carries out His word. The day of the Lord is indeed great and very awesome, And who can endure it?

and say,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.So I will turn you around and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them magnificently dressed, a great contingent with shield and buckler, all of them wielding swords;Persia, Cush, and Put with them, all of them with buckler and helmet;Gomer with all its troops; Beth togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops— many peoples with you.“ Be ready, and be prepared, you and all your contingents that are assembled around you, and be a guard for them.After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual place of ruins; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them.And you will go up, you will come like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.”‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ It will come about on that day, that thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil plan,and you will say,‘ I will go up against the land of unwalled villages. I will go against those who are at rest, who live securely, all of them living without walls and having no bars or gates,to capture spoils and to seize plunder, to turn your hand against the ruins that are now inhabited, and against the people who are gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who live at the center of the world.’Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its villages will say to you,‘ Have you come to capture spoils? Have you assembled your contingent to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to capture great spoils?’ ” ’“ Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ On that day when My people Israel are living securely, will you not know it?You will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding horses, a large assembly and a mighty army;and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I show Myself holy through you before their eyes, Gog.”‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Are you the one of whom I spoke in former days through My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days for many years that I would bring you against them?It will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” declares the Lord God,“ that My fury will mount up in My anger.In My zeal and in My blazing wrath I declare that on that day there will certainly be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field, all the crawling things that crawl on the earth, and all mankind who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence; and the mountains will be thrown down, the steep pathways will collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.And I will call for a sword against him on all My mountains,” declares the Lord God.“ Every man’s sword will be against his brother.With plague and with blood I will enter into judgment with him; and I will rain on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and brimstone.So I will prove Myself great, show Myself holy, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the Lord.” ’

And it will come about on that day that a great panic from the Lord will fall on them; and they will seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will be raised against the hand of another.Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold, silver, and garments in great abundance.

Behold, a day is coming for the Lord when the spoils taken from you will be divided among you.For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city.Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.

For this reason in one day her plagues will come, plague and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong.

Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hands is My indignation,I send it against a godless nation And commission it against the people of My fury To capture spoils and to seize plunder, And to trample them down like mud in the streets.

Lift up a signal flag in the land, Blow a trumpet among the nations! Consecrate the nations against her, Summon against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; Appoint an officer against her, Bring up the horses like bristly locusts.Consecrate the nations against her, The kings of the Medes, Their governors and all their officials, And every land under their control.

The pronouncement concerning the valley of vision: What is the matter with you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops?You who were full of noise, You tumultuous town, you jubilant city; Your dead were not killed with the sword, Nor did they die in battle.All your rulers have fled together, And have been captured without the bow; All of you who were found were taken captive together, Though they had fled far away.Therefore I say,“ Look away from me, Let me weep bitterly, Do not try to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”For the Lord God of armies has a day of panic, subjugation, and confusion In the valley of vision, A breaking down of walls And a crying to the mountain.Elam picked up the quiver, With the chariots, infantry, and horsemen; And Kir uncovered the shield.Then your choicest valleys were full of chariots, And the horsemen took positions at the gate.And He removed the defense of Judah. On that day you depended on the weapons of the house of the forest,And you saw that the breaches In the wall of the city of David were many; And you collected the waters of the lower pool.

“ Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it, And against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and completely destroy them,” declares the Lord,“ And do according to everything that I have commanded you.The noise of battle is in the land, And great destruction.How the hammer of the whole earth Has been cut off and broken! How Babylon has become An object of horror among the nations!I set a trap for you and you were also caught, Babylon, While you yourself were not aware; You have been found and also seized Because you have engaged in conflict with the Lord.”The Lord has opened His armory And has brought out the weapons of His indignation, For it is a work of the Lord God of armies In the land of the Chaldeans.Come to her from the farthest border; Open up her barns, Pile her up like heaps of grain And completely destroy her, Let nothing be left to her.Put all her bulls to the sword; Let them go down to the slaughter! Woe be upon them, for their day has come, The time of their punishment.There is a sound of fugitives and refugees from the land of Babylon, To declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, Vengeance for His temple.“ Summon many against Babylon, All those who bend the bow: Encamp against her on every side, Let there be no escape. Repay her according to her work; According to all that she has done, so do to her; For she has become arrogant against the Lord, Against the Holy One of Israel.Therefore her young men will fall in her streets, And all her men of war will perish on that day,” declares the Lord.“ Behold, I am against you, arrogant one,” Declares the Lord God of armies,“ For your day has come, The time when I will punish you.The arrogant one will stumble and fall With no one to raise him up; And I will set fire to his cities, And it will devour all his surroundings.”This is what the Lord of armies says:“ The sons of Israel are oppressed, And the sons of Judah as well; And all who took them captive have held them firmly, They have refused to let them go.Their Redeemer is strong, the Lord of armies is His name; He will vigorously plead their case So that He may bring rest to their land, But turmoil to the inhabitants of Babylon.A sword against the Chaldeans,” declares the Lord,“ And against the inhabitants of Babylon And against her leaders and her wise men!A sword against the oracle priests, and they will become fools! A sword against her warriors, and they will be shattered!A sword against their horses, against their chariots, And against all the foreigners who are in the midst of her, And they will become women! A sword against her treasures, and they will be plundered!A drought on her waters, and they will be dried up! For it is a land of idols, And they go insane at frightful images.“ Therefore the desert creatures will live there with the jackals; The ostriches also will live in it. It will never again be inhabited Nor lived in from generation to generation.As when God overthrew Sodom And Gomorrah with its neighbors,” declares the Lord,“ No one will live there, Nor will anyone of mankind reside in it.“ Behold, a people is coming from the north, And a great nation and many kings Will be roused from the remote parts of the earth.They seize their bow and javelin; They are cruel and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea; And they ride on horses, Drawn up like a man for the battle Against you, daughter of Babylon.The king of Babylon has heard the report about them, And his hands hang limp; Distress has gripped him, Agony like a woman in childbirth.“ Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thicket of the Jordan to a perennially watered pasture; for in an instant I will chase them away from it, and I will appoint over it whoever is chosen. For who is like Me, and who will summon Me into court? And who then is the shepherd who can stand against Me?”Therefore hear the plan of the Lord which He has planned against Babylon, and His purposes which He has in mind against the land of the Chaldeans: they will certainly drag them off, even the little ones of the flock; He will certainly make their pasture desolate because of them.At the shout,“ Babylon has been conquered!” the earth quakes, and an outcry is heard among the nations.

Draw up your battle lines against Babylon on every side, All of you who bend the bow; Shoot at her, do not spare your arrows, For she has sinned against the Lord.Raise your battle cry against her on every side! She has given herself up, her towers have fallen, Her walls have been torn down. For this is the vengeance of the Lord: Take vengeance on her; As she has done to others, so do to her.

The appearance of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads appeared to be crowns like gold, and their faces were like human faces.They had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.They had breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle.They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt people for five months.They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon.The first woe has passed; behold, two woes are still coming after these things.Then the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet,“ Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”And the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released, so that they would kill a third of mankind.The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.And this is how I saw in my vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire, of hyacinth, and of brimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths* came fire and smoke and brimstone.A third of mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the fire, the smoke, and the brimstone which came out of their mouths.For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with them they do harm.

“ Declare and proclaim among the nations. Proclaim it and lift up a flag, Do not conceal it. Say,‘ Babylon has been captured, Bel has been put to shame, Marduk has been shattered; Her idols have been put to shame, her images have been shattered.’For a nation has come up against her from the north; it will make her land an object of horror, and there will be no inhabitant in it. Whether people or animals, they have wandered off, they have gone!

This is what the Lord says to Cyrus His anointed, Whom I have taken by the right hand, To subdue nations before him And to undo the weapons belt on the waist of kings; To open doors before him so that gates will not be shut:“ I will go before you and make the rough places smooth; I will shatter the doors of bronze and cut through their iron bars.

Flee from the midst of Babylon, And each of you save his life! Do not perish in her punishment, For this is the Lord’s time of vengeance; He is going to repay to her what she deserves.Babylon has been a golden cup in the hand of the Lord, Intoxicating all the earth. The nations have drunk of her wine; Therefore the nations are going insane.Suddenly Babylon has fallen and been broken; Wail over her! Bring balm for her pain; Perhaps she may be healed.We applied healing to Babylon, but she was not healed; Abandon her and let’s each go to his own country, For her judgment has reached to heaven And it rises to the clouds.The Lord has brought about our vindication; Come and let’s recount in Zion The work of the Lord our God!Sharpen the arrows, fill the quivers! The Lord has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes, Because His plan is against Babylon to destroy it; For it is the vengeance of the Lord, vengeance for His temple.Lift up a signal flag against the walls of Babylon; Post a strong guard, Station sentries, Set up an ambush! For the Lord has both planned and performed What He spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.You who live by many waters, Abundant in treasures, Your end has come, The measure of your end.The Lord of armies has sworn by Himself:“ I will certainly fill you with a population like locusts, And they will cry out with shouts of victory over you.”It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom, And by His understanding He stretched out the heavens.When He utters His voice, there is a roar of waters in the heavens, And He makes the clouds ascend from the end of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain And brings out wind from His storehouses.Every person is stupid, devoid of knowledge; Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, For his cast metal images are deceitful, And there is no breath in them.They are worthless, a work of mockery; At the time of their punishment they will perish.The portion of Jacob is not like these; For He is the Maker of everything, And of the tribe of His inheritance; The Lord of armies is His name.He says,“ You are My war club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, And with you I destroy kingdoms.With you I shatter the horse and his rider, And with you I shatter the chariot and its rider,And with you I shatter man and woman, And with you I shatter the old man and youth, And with you I shatter the young man and virgin,And with you I shatter the shepherd and his flock, And with you I shatter the farmer and his team, And with you I shatter governors and officials.“ But I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all their evil that they have done in Zion before your eyes,” declares the Lord.“ Behold, I am against you, mountain of destruction That destroys the whole earth,” declares the Lord,“ And I will stretch out My hand against you, And roll you down from the rocky cliffs, And I will make you a burnt out mountain.
