Hyenas will inhabit her strongholds, jackals her luxurious palaces. Her time is at hand, and her days will not be prolonged.

Hyenas will live in its forts. Wild dogs will live in its beautiful palaces. The time for Babylon to be punished is near. Its days are numbered.

境內的居民哪，厄運臨到你；時候到了，日子近了，有鬧鬨，但不是山上歡呼的聲音。我快要將我的憤怒傾倒在你身上，向你發盡我的怒氣，按你的行為審判你，照你所做一切可憎的事懲罰你。我的眼必不顧惜你，也不可憐你，必按你所做的報應你，照你中間可憎的事懲罰你；你就知道擊打你的是我－耶和華。「看哪，那日子！看哪，已來到！厄運已經發生！杖已開花，驕傲已發芽。

主沒有遲延他的應許，就如有人以為他是遲延，其實他是寬容你們，不願一人沉淪，而是人人都來悔改。但主的日子要像賊一樣來到；那日，天必在轟然一聲中消失，天體都要被烈火熔化，地和地上的萬物都要燒盡。

因為這默示有一定的日期，論及終局，絕不落空。它雖然躭延，你要等候；因為它必臨到，不再遲延。

以東的宮殿要長出荊棘，城堡要生長蒺藜和刺草；成為野狗的住處，鴕鳥的居所。

伸冤報應在我，到了時候他們會失腳。因為他們遭難的日子近了，他們的厄運快要臨到。

他們因貪婪，要用捏造的言語在你們身上取得利益。他們的懲罰，自古以來並不遲延；他們的滅亡也必迅速來到。
