Hyenas will inhabit her strongholds, jackals her luxurious palaces. Her time is at hand, and her days will not be prolonged.

Hyenas will live in its forts. Wild dogs will live in its beautiful palaces. The time for Babylon to be punished is near. Its days are numbered.

這地的居民哪，災害臨到你了！時候到了，日子近了，是混亂喧嚷的日子，不是山上歡呼的日子。現在我快要把我的烈怒倒在你身上，向你完全發盡我的怒氣。我要按著你的行為審判你，照著你一切可憎的事報應你。我的眼必不顧惜，我也不憐恤。我卻要按著你的行為，照著你中間可憎的事報應你，你們就知道擊打你們的是我耶和華。“‘看哪，這日子到了！災害已經發出，杖已經開花，狂傲已經發芽。

主決不耽延他的應許，像有些人以為他是耽延的一樣；其實他是寬容你們，不願有一人滅亡，卻願人人都悔改。但主的日子必要像賊一樣來到。在那日，天必轟然一聲地消失，所有元素都因烈火而融化；地和地上所有的，都要被燒毀（“被燒毀”有不少古抄本作“被發現”）。

因這異象關乎一定的日期，很快就要實現，決不徒然；縱有遲延，仍當等候，因為它一定會來到，絕不耽誤。”

以東的宮殿必長荊棘，它的堡壘必長蒺藜和刺草；它要作野狗的住處，作鴕鳥的居所。

等到他們失足的時候，我要伸冤報應；因為他們遭遇災難的日子近了，那預備要臨到他們身上的事，必快快臨到。

他們因為有貪心，就用捏造的話，想在你們身上圖利；懲罰他們的，自古以來就沒有鬆懈；毀滅他們的，也不會打盹。
