She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; there no nomads will pitch their tents, there no shepherds will rest their flocks.

No one will ever live in Babylon again. No one will live there for all time to come. Those who wander in the desert will never set up their tents there. Shepherds will never rest their flocks there.

使民戰慄、蓋我耶和華已定厥志、攻巴比倫、使之荒蕪、無人居處斯言必應。

民自北至、攻巴比倫、人民群畜、刧掠一空、地變荒蕪、無人居處。

烟燄上騰、不舍晝夜、其地荒蕪、幾歷世代、後人無復過之者、鵜鶘毛蝟聚處焉、鷺鷥烏鴉棲止焉、我循準繩、以滅以東、在牧伯貴介中、欲簡一人為王、實難其選、荊棘叢生於宮闕、蒺藜萌長於城垣、蝮蛇鴕鳥、居處其中、暴獸野犬遇於途、魑魅魍魎嘷於野、妖狐山魈、據之為寧宇、有蛇疾行若箭、穴於其所、涵淹卵育、雌雄之鸇鳥、翔集於彼、

耶和華曰、爾巴比倫邑若山、天下黎庶、遭爾淪喪、我將舉手攻爾、推爾磛巖、焚爾峰巔、

我耶和華已定厥志、攻巴比倫、降罰迦勒底、即羊之小者、亦得而欺之、使其居處荒蕪。

耶和華又曰、違逆之邦、當降以罰、滅之務盡、循我所命。

故暴獸野犬、雌雄鴕鳥、必巢其中、無人居處、歷代若此。

當言於耶和華曰、爾言必滅斯邦人民畜群、刧掠一空、地變荒蕪、歷代若此、言竟則繫書於石、投之百辣河中。曰耶和華降災於巴比倫、使彼困乏、沉而不浮、有如此書、於是耶利米之言畢矣。

有能天使舉大石如磨、投於海、曰、巴比倫大邑、當猝然傾圮、不復得見、有如此石、鼓琴作樂、品簫吹角之音、不復聞於爾間、百工不復居於爾間、磨聲不再聞於爾間、燈光不復照於爾間、新娶者、與新婦之語、不復聞於爾間、爾商旅乃世上大夫、萬國以爾巫術迷惑、
