She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; there no nomads will pitch their tents, there no shepherds will rest their flocks.

No one will ever live in Babylon again. No one will live there for all time to come. Those who wander in the desert will never set up their tents there. Shepherds will never rest their flocks there.

昼夜总不熄灭，它的烟永远上腾，必世世代代成为荒废，永永远远无人经过。鹈鹕、豪猪要得它为业，猫头鹰、乌鸦要住在其间。耶和华必将空虚的准绳、混沌的石垂线，拉在以东之上。人必宣称那里没有王国，它的贵族和所有领袖都归于无有。以东的宫殿要长出荆棘，城堡要生长蒺藜和刺草；成为野狗的住处，鸵鸟的居所。野兽要和土狼相遇，山羊鬼魔要与同伴对唱，莉莉丝必在那里栖身，为自己寻找安歇之处。箭头蛇要在那里做窝，下蛋，孵蛋，并招聚幼蛇在其保护之下；鹞鹰也与伴侣聚集在那里。

行毁灭的山，看哪，我与你为敌，你毁灭全地，我必伸手攻击你，将你从山岩滚下去，使你成为烧毁了的山。这是耶和华说的。

你们要听耶和华攻击巴比伦所定的计划和他攻击迦勒底人之地所定的旨意。他们羊群当中微弱的定要被拖走，他们的草场定要变为荒凉。

你要上去攻击米拉大翁之地，又攻击比割的居民。将他们追杀灭尽，照我所吩咐你的一切去做。这是耶和华说的。

所以野兽和土狼必住在那里，鸵鸟也住在其中，永远无人居住，世世代代无人定居。

说：‘耶和华啊，你曾论到这地方说：要剪除它，不再有人与牲畜居住此地，必永远荒凉。’你读完这书卷，就要把一块石头拴在其上，投入幼发拉底河中，说：‘巴比伦因耶和华所要降与它的灾祸，必如此沉下去，不再浮起来，百姓也必困乏。’”耶利米的话到此为止。

有一位大力的天使举起一块石头，好像大磨石，扔在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样猛力地被扔下去，绝对见不到了。弹琴、歌唱、吹笛、吹号的声音，在你中间绝对听不见了；各行手艺的技工在你中间绝对见不到了；推磨的声音在你中间绝对听不见了；灯台的光在你中间绝对不再照耀了；新郎和新娘的声音在你中间绝对听不见了。你的商人原来是地上的显要；万国也被你的邪术迷惑了。
