She will never be inhabited or lived in through all generations; there no nomads will pitch their tents, there no shepherds will rest their flocks.

No one will ever live in Babylon again. No one will live there for all time to come. Those who wander in the desert will never set up their tents there. Shepherds will never rest their flocks there.

昼夜不熄，烟气永远上腾，并且必世世代代变为荒凉，永永远远无人经过。但鹈鹕与箭猪要占据那地，猫头鹰和乌鸦必住在其中。耶和华必把混沌的准绳、空虚的线铊，拉在其上。它的显贵一个也没有了，以致不能称为一国，所有的领袖也没有了。以东的宫殿必长荆棘，它的堡垒必长蒺藜和刺草；它要作野狗的住处，作鸵鸟的居所。旷野的走兽必与豺狼相遇，野山羊必呼喊它的同伴；连夜间的怪物也必在那里栖身，为自己寻找休息的地方。箭蛇要在那里筑窝、下蛋、孵蛋，并且聚子在它的阴影下；鹞鹰也各与自己的伴偶，聚集在那里。

“行毁灭的山哪，就是毁灭全地的山哪！我要和你作对，我要伸手攻击你，使你从山岩上滚下来，使你成为烧毁了的山。”这是耶和华的宣告。

因此，你们要听耶和华筹谋对付巴比伦的计划，和他为了攻击迦勒底人的地所定下的策略。他们羊群中最小的也必被拉去，他们的牧场也必因临到它们的灾祸而荒废。

“你们要攻击米拉大翁的地，上去攻击她，又攻击比割的居民，屠杀他们，把他们彻底消灭，照着我吩咐你们的一切执行。”这是耶和华的宣告。

旷野的走兽和豺狼必住在那里，鸵鸟也必住在其中；那地永远再没有人居住，世世代代不再有人住在那里，

然后你要说：‘耶和华啊！论到这地方，你曾经亲自说过要把它剪除，使这地永远荒凉，没有人畜居住。’你宣读完这书卷以后，要把一块石头和书拴在一起，丢进幼发拉底河里，然后说：‘巴比伦必因耶和华（“耶和华”原文作“我”）所要降给它的灾祸，照样沉下去，不再浮上来；它的人民也必灭没。’”耶利米的话到此为止。

有一位大力的天使，把一块好像大磨石一样的石头，举起来抛在海里，说：“巴比伦大城也必这样被猛力地抛下去，决不能再找到了！弹琴、奏乐、吹笛、吹号的声音，在你中间决不能再听到了！各样手艺技工，在你中间决不能再找到了！推磨的声音，在你中间决不能再听到了！灯的亮光，在你中间决不能再照耀了！新郎新娘的声音，在你中间决不能再听到了！你的商人一向都是地上的大人物，万国都因你的邪术受了迷惑。
