惟亞述王不如是思維、心中不如是意念、乃欲毀滅諸國、欲殄絕淨盡、

從前你們的意思是要害我，但神的意思原是好的，要使許多百姓得以存活，成就今日的光景。

現在，許多國家聚集攻擊你，說：「讓錫安被玷污！讓我們親眼看到！」他們卻不知道耶和華的意念，也不明白他的籌算，他聚集他們，像把禾捆聚到禾場。

他既按着神確定的旨意和預知被交與人，你們就藉着不法之人的手把他釘在十字架上，殺了。

耶路撒冷的居民和他們的官長，因為不認識這基督，也不明白每安息日所讀的先知的書，把他定了死罪，正應驗了先知的預言。雖然他們查不出他有該死的罪狀，還是要求彼拉多把他殺了。他們既實現了經上指着他所記的一切話，就從木頭上把他取下來，放在墳墓裏。神卻使他從死人中復活。

看哪，你總聽說亞述諸王向列國所行的是盡行滅絕，難道你能倖免嗎？我祖先所毀滅的，就是歌散、哈蘭、利色和提‧拉撒的伊甸人；這些國的神明何曾拯救他們呢？哈馬的王，亞珥拔的王，西法瓦音城的王，希拿和以瓦的王，都在哪裏呢？』」

恐怕希西家誤導你們說，耶和華必拯救我們。列國的神明有哪一個曾救它本國脫離亞述王的手呢？哈馬和亞珥拔的神明在哪裏呢？西法瓦音的神明在哪裏呢？它們曾救撒瑪利亞脫離我的手嗎？這些國的神明有誰曾救自己的國家脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能救耶路撒冷脫離我的手嗎？』」
