But this is not what he intends, this is not what he has in mind; his purpose is to destroy, to put an end to many nations.

現在聚集來攻擊你的有許多國的人，就是那些說：『願錫安被戰事蹂躪玷污，願我們親眼見到她遭報』的。但他們卻不知道永恆主的意念，不明白他的計畫；他收集他們、就像把禾捆聚到禾場一樣。

這個人、按着上帝所立定的計畫和豫知被送官，你們藉着不法之人的手給釘上，殺掉了。

而在耶路撒冷居住的人和他們的議員卻不認識這個人，也不明白每安息日所宣讀的神言人的話，竟給定了罪、而應驗了這些神言人的話。雖然找不着該死的罪狀，還求彼拉多設法把他殺掉。既作完了經上所記關於他的一切事，就從木架上給取下來，安放在墳墓裏。上帝卻叫他從死人中活了起來。

看哪，你總聽說過亞述諸王怎樣將各地盡行毁滅歸神罷；難道你還能得援救麼？我列祖所毁滅的國：歌散、哈蘭、利色、和在提拉撒的伊甸人；這些國的神何曾援救過它們呢？哈馬的王、亞珥拔的王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿以瓦的王都在哪裏呢？」』

免得希西家教唆你們說：『永恆主一定會援救我們。』列國的神有哪一位曾援救過他的本地脫離亞述王的手呢？哈馬亞珥拔的神在哪裏？西法瓦音的神在哪裏？他們何曾援救過撒瑪利亞脫離我的手呢？這些國家的神有誰曾援救過他們的本地脫離我的手呢？難道永恆主能援救耶路撒冷脫離我的手麼？」』
