从前你们是要加害于我，但上帝有祂的美意，祂借此保全许多人的性命，正如今日的光景。

现在许多国家一起来攻击你们，说：“愿锡安遭蹂躏，我们要看着锡安被毁灭。”他们却不知道耶和华的心意，也不明白祂的计划。祂聚集他们是要惩罚他们，像把禾捆堆积在麦场一样。

上帝照着自己的计划和预知把耶稣交在你们手里，你们借着邪恶之人的手把祂钉死在十字架上了。

可是耶路撒冷的人和他们的官长不知道耶稣是基督，虽然每个安息日都诵读先知的信息，却把基督判死罪。这正应验了先知们的话。他们虽然找不到判祂死罪的理由，却强求彼拉多将祂处死。祂受死的记载全部应验之后，有人把祂从十字架上取下来，安放在石墓里。但上帝却使祂从死里复活。

你肯定听过亚述诸王扫灭列国的事，难道你能幸免吗？我先祖毁灭了歌散、哈兰、利色和提·拉撒的伊甸人，这些国家的神明救得了他们吗？哈马王、亚珥拔王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿王和以瓦王如今在哪里呢？”

不要让希西迦欺骗你们，以为耶和华必拯救你们。列国的神明中有哪个曾经从亚述王手中救他的国家呢？哈马和亚珥拔的神明在哪里呢？西法瓦音的神明在哪里呢？他们从我手中救撒玛利亚了吗？这些国家的神明中有哪个曾从我手中救自己的国家呢？难道耶和华能从我手中救耶路撒冷吗？’”
