Though your people be like the sand by the sea, Israel, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overwhelming and righteous.

Israel, your people might be as many as the grains of sand by the sea. But only a few of them will return. The Lord has handed down a death sentence. He will destroy his people. What he does is right.

平素鞏固之城垣荒蕪、昔日居處之宅第見棄、淒涼如野、牛犢牧於彼、臥於彼、食盡其枝、枝條枯槁、必被毀折、婦女拾取、用以燃火、因此民蒙昧無知、故造之者不憫之、作之者不向之施恩、

我曰、主歟、此事將至何時而止乎、曰、迨乎城邑寂寞、內無居民、宅第空虛無人、土地盡歸荒蕪、

我今且按人言言之曰、若我儕之不義、顯彰天主之義、則何言哉、天主施刑、可謂其不義乎、非也、若然、則天主焉能審判世界乎、

流入猶大、氾濫漲溢、深及於項、以瑪內利乎、其其即亞述王羽翼必充於四境、遍爾國中、○

爾自言、我儕與死亡立約、與示阿勒示阿勒見五章十四節小註結盟、敵軍來時、如水汎濫四溢、經歷我地、必不及我身、蓋我倚恃誑詐、藏身於虛偽之中、故主天主如是云、我將以一石置於郇為基、乃已試之石、寶貴之屋隅石、堪為鞏固之基、凡信之者必不急切、我以公平為繩、以善義為準、爾以誑詐為掩蔽之所、雹必除之、爾以虛偽為藏身之處、水必沖之、或作我以公平為準繩以善義為吊錘使雹擊除誑詐之蔽所使水沖沒虛偽之藏處爾與死亡所立之約必廢、與示阿勒所結之盟不立、敵軍來時、如水汎濫四溢、經歷斯地、爾曹為彼所蹂躪、彼一經歷則執爾、每晨經歷、晝夜經歷、人惟聞風聲、驚駭不已、其勢必如床短不能舒身、被狹不足蔽體、主必興起、如昔在毘拉心山、震怒如昔在基遍谷、欲行其事、即非常之事、欲成其工、即奇異之工、今爾勿嘲笑、恐爾之縲絏愈加嚴緊、蓋我聞主萬有之天主已定厥命、必殲滅全地、○
