Though your people be like the sand by the sea, Israel, only a remnant will return. Destruction has been decreed, overwhelming and righteous.

Israel, your people might be as many as the grains of sand by the sea. But only a few of them will return. The Lord has handed down a death sentence. He will destroy his people. What he does is right.

照样，在现今的时刻也有剩余的少数，就是藉着恩典蒙拣选的人。既然藉着恩典，就不再本于行为了；否则，恩典就不再是恩典了。

可是你照着顽固和不悔改的心，为那震怒的日子，就是神公义审判显现的日子，给自己积蓄了震怒。

你绝不会做这样的事：把义人与恶人一同处死，让义人像恶人一样！你绝不会！难道全地的审判者不施行公正吗？”

因为他已经确立了日子，将要藉着他所设定的一个人，以公义来审判天下的人，并且藉着使他从死人中复活，给万人带来了确据。”

坚固的城变为凄凉，成了被撇下、被遗弃的居所，像旷野一样；牛犊在那里吃草、躺卧，吃尽那里的树枝。枝条枯干时，必被折断，妇女要来，拿去烧火。因为这百姓愚昧，所以造他们的必不怜悯他们，塑造他们的必不恩待他们。

我就说：“主啊，这要到什么时候呢？”他说：“直到城镇废弃，无人居住，房屋空无一人，土地废弃荒凉的时候；

但是，如果我按人的意思来说，我们的不义可以显明神的义，那我们要怎么说呢？难道降震怒的神是不公正的吗？绝对不是！否则，神怎么能审判世界呢？

然后涌入犹大，漫溢泛滥，高达颈项！他展开的翅膀，遍满你广阔的土地，以马内利啊！”

你们曾说：“我们与死亡立了约，与阴间定了协议；冲击而来的鞭子经过时，不会临到我们；我们以谎言为避难所，用虚假隐藏自己。”所以，主耶和华如此说：“看哪！我在锡安放一块作根基的石头，是试验过的石头，是宝贵的房角石，稳固的根基——信靠的人必不惊慌。我要以公正为准绳，以公义为铅垂线；冰雹要扫灭谎言的避难所，众水要冲没你们的藏身处。你们与死亡立的约必废除，与阴间定的协议也立不住；冲击而来的鞭子经过时，你们必被践踏；每当它经过时，它必掳掠你们；每天早晨，它必经过，白天与夜间都会如此。只有恐怖的事才能使你们明白这信息。”床铺太短，伸不直身子；被子太窄，裹不住全身。耶和华必兴起，像他在毗拉心山兴起那样，他必发怒，像他在基遍谷发怒那样，为要做成他的工，就是奇异的工，为要成就他的事，就是非凡的事。现在，你们不可再讥讽了，免得捆绑你们的绳索绑得更紧，因为我从主万军之耶和华那里听到了那注定要临到全地的灭绝。
