永恆主就差遣了一個使者、在亞述王營中把一切有力氣英勇的人和將官及元帥、盡都抹除。亞述王滿面慚愧回他本地去。他進了他的神的廟，他親生的兒子在那裏用刀把他砍倒。

萬軍之永恆主起了誓，說：『我怎樣想，事就怎樣成，我怎樣計畫，事就怎樣立定；就是必在我的地上擊破亞述人，在我的山上踐踏他；他加的軛必從以色列人身上脫下來；他加的重擔必從他們的肩頭上卸下。』這是關於全地所定的旨意；關於列國所伸出的手。因為萬軍之永恆主定了旨意，誰能廢棄呢？他的手伸了出來，誰能使它縮回呢？

當那日子雅各的威榮必衰落，他皮肉的肥胖必消瘦。

但你敵人的蜂擁軍兵卻要像微細的飛塵，強橫的蜂擁軍兵都要像飛過的糠粃；而這又是頃刻之間、突然而來的。她必被萬軍之永恆主用雷轟、地震、大聲、暴風、旋風、和吞滅人的火燄、所察罰。那時那些攻擊亞利伊勒的列國軍眾、就是一切攻擊她和她的營寨、以及那窘迫她的、必都像夢景，像夜間的異象。也必像肚子餓的人在作夢；夢見在喫呢！趕到醒來，肚子仍覺虛空！或像口渴的人在作夢；夢見在喝呢！趕到醒來，仍覺疲乏，心裏仍渴慕着。那攻擊錫安山的列國軍眾也必這樣。

那時羊羔必來喫草、像在自己的草場一樣；山羊羔必在荒場上喫食。

因你向我激怒，又因你倨傲的話上我耳中，我就要放鈎子鈎你的鼻子，把嚼環放在你嘴上，使你從你來的路上轉回去。』

因為鏖戰震地的戰靴、和輥於血中的戰袍、都必做燒火的燃料、給火焚燒。

永恆主的使者就出來，在亞述營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；第二天早晨、人清早起來，只見都是死屍。

主的使者立時擊打希律，因為他不將榮耀歸與上帝，他被蟲子咬，就氣絕了。

以賽亞對他們說：『要這樣對你們的主上說：「永恆主這麼說：你不要因為你所聽見亞述王的僮僕褻瀆我的話來懼怕。看吧，我必使他靈機一動，就聽見風聲，而回他本地去；我必使他在他本地那裏倒斃於刀下。」』

因此、你看吧，主必使大河的水，又強又大的水，就是亞述王和他所有的威榮，起來淹沒他們；大水必漲起、高過一切水溝，它必橫流，漫過所有的河岸；

永恆主說：『現在我要起來；現在我要奮起；現在我要舉起自己。你們孕懷着乾草，產生了碎稭；你們的氣就是火、是那吞滅你們自己的。萬族之民必像石灰之焚燒，像割斷的荊條，在火中燒燬掉。』遠方的人哪，聽我所行的哦；近處的人哪，承認我的大能哦。錫安中的罪人都恐懼；不拜上帝的人被震顫抓住了，說：『我們中間誰能和吞滅的火同住呢？我們中間誰能和永遠的燃燒物同居呢？』

又把他的樹林和園地之華美連魂帶體全都滅盡，他就像熔化之物之熔化一樣。
