因此，主万军之耶和华必使衰败临到亚述王肥壮的勇士；在亚述王的荣耀之下，必有火燃起，如同烈火燃烧。

故萬有之主將使肥健之人、變為瘦瘠、尊榮之輩、爇以烈火、

故大主宰萬有之主、必使其肥壯之人、變為瘦瘠、使其榮華中、如有烈火焚燬、

Therefore, the Lord, the Lord Almighty, will send a wasting disease upon his sturdy warriors; under his pomp a fire will be kindled like a blazing flame.

那时，神把他们所求的赐给他们，却使衰败临到他们的灵魂。

耶和华必使人听见他威严的声音，又以猛烈的怒气、吞噬的火焰、暴雨、狂风和石头般的冰雹，使人看见他抡下来的膀臂。亚述人必因耶和华的声音而丧胆，耶和华必用杖击打他们；耶和华施刑的杖每打他们一下，人都会击鼓和弹琴；打仗的时候，耶和华必挥手与他们争战。原来，那焚烧场早已安排好了，是为君王所预备的；它又深又宽，其中充满了火和许多木柴；耶和华的气息如同一股硫磺火使它燃烧起来。

万军之耶和华起誓说：“我怎样想，也必怎样成；我怎样策划，也必怎样成立。我要在我的地上摧毁亚述，在我的群山上把它践踏；它所加的轭必离开以色列人，它所加的重担必离开他们的肩头。”这就是对全地所策划的谋略，这就是向万国所伸出的手。要知道，万军之耶和华已经策划了，有谁能破坏呢？他的手已经伸出了，有谁能使其收回呢？

“到那日，雅各的荣耀必衰微，他肥壮的身体必消瘦；

然而，你成群的外敌必变得像细小的灰尘，那些成群的强横者必像被吹散的糠秕。顷刻之间，万军之耶和华必突然用雷霆、地震、巨响、旋风、狂风和吞噬的火焰来惩罚他们。攻打亚利伊勒的万国众军，所有攻打亚利伊勒和它要塞的，以及使它受困苦的，都必像一场梦幻，又如夜间的异象——他们像饥饿的人在梦中吃饭，醒来后仍然饥饿；又像口渴的人在梦中喝水，醒来后仍然口渴、发昏。攻打锡安山的万国众军也必如此。

那时，羊羔必来吃草，如同在自己的草场；寄居者也在富有人的废墟中吃食。

因为你对我发怒，你的骄奢安逸上达我的耳中，所以我要把钩子放进你的鼻孔，把嚼环放入你的嘴里，我必使你从原路返回。

每一个在战乱中所穿的军靴和滚在血中的战袍，都必烧毁，成为烧火的燃料。

于是耶和华的使者出去，在亚述的营中击杀了十八万五千人；清早人们起来，看哪，所见的都是死尸！

主的一位天使立刻击打希律，因为他没有把荣耀归给神。他被虫咬蚀，就断了气。

以赛亚对他们说：“你们要这样告诉你们的主人：‘耶和华如此说：你不要因为听见亚述王的仆人们亵渎我的话而害怕。看哪！我要把一个灵放入亚述王里面，让他一听见传来的风声就返回本土；我必使他在那里倒在刀下。’”

因此，看哪，主必使幼发拉底河强盛的大水，就是亚述王和他所有的威势，上涨淹没他们，又上涨淹没一切水道，漫过所有的河岸；

耶和华说：“现在我要起来，现在我要被高举，现在我要受尊崇。你们所怀的是干草，所生的是麦秸；你们的鼻息是吞噬自己的火。众民必被烧成灰烬，好像砍下的荆棘在火中烧掉。远方的人哪，你们要听我所做的事！近处的人哪，你们要知道我的大能！”罪人在锡安惧怕，不敬虔的人被战兢抓住，说：“我们中间谁能与吞噬之火同住？我们中间谁能与不灭之焰共居？”

亚述王树林和果园的荣美必全然灭绝，好像病重的人消逝那样。
