“ Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, Who write misfortune, Which they have prescribed

制定不义律例、起草不公法令的人啊，你们有祸了！

那些制定奸恶律例的，和那些记录诡诈判语的，有祸了！

祸哉！那些制定邪恶律例、记录不义判决的！

禍哉！那些設立不義之律例的和記錄奸詐之判語的，

禍哉！那些設立不義之律例的，和記錄奸詐之判詞的，

禍哉！那些設立不義之律例的，和記錄奸詐之判詞的，

制定不義律例、起草不公法令的人啊，你們有禍了！

那些制定奸惡律例的，和那些記錄詭詐判語的，有禍了！

有禍啊，那些制定奸惡之律例的，和那些忙於記錄毒害人之判語的！

禍哉！那些制定邪惡律例、記錄不義判決的！

立不義之律、錄乖戾之詞、

立法嚴酷、載之典章、虐遇其民、其有禍乎。

立不善之法度、錄不義之判語、

Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees,

How terrible it will be for you who make laws that aren’t fair! How terrible for you who write laws that make life hard for others!

Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression,

What sorrow awaits the unjust judges and those who issue unfair laws.

Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws

Woe to those who enact unjust statutes And to those who constantly record harmful decisions,

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write perverseness;

Woe to those enacting crooked statutes and writing oppressive laws

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness[ which] they have prescribed;

Those who enact unjust policies are as good as dead, those who are always instituting unfair regulations,

Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees;

“ Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.

“ But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them.”

Woe to those who join house to house; They add field to field, Till there is no place Where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!

And I said:“ Hear now, O heads of Jacob, And you rulers of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?You who hate good and love evil; Who strip the skin from My people, And the flesh from their bones;Who also eat the flesh of My people, Flay their skin from them, Break their bones, And chop them in pieces Like meat for the pot, Like flesh in the caldron.”Then they will cry to the Lord, But He will not hear them; He will even hide His face from them at that time, Because they have been evil in their deeds.

“ Will not all these take up a proverb against him, And a taunting riddle against him, and say,‘ Woe to him who increases What is not his— how long? And to him who loads himself with many pledges’?

Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You?They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood.

“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

And He said,“ Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,

For the statutes of Omri are kept; All the works of Ahab’s house are done; And you walk in their counsels, That I may make you a desolation, And your inhabitants a hissing. Therefore you shall bear the reproach of My people.”

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, And sin as if with a cart rope;

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous,

“ Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness And his chambers by injustice, Who uses his neighbor’s service without wages And gives him nothing for his work,

“ Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!

Now hear this, You heads of the house of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel, Who abhor justice And pervert all equity,Who build up Zion with bloodshed And Jerusalem with iniquity:Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, and say,“ Is not the Lord among us? No harm can come upon us.”

Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.”Therefore King Darius signed the written decree.

“ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Woe to him who says to wood,‘ Awake!’ To silent stone,‘ Arise! It shall teach!’ Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, Yet in it there is no breath at all.

“ Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed, Who establishes a city by iniquity!

“ Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor, Pressing him to your bottle, Even to make him drunk, That you may look on his nakedness!

His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”

No, in heart you work wickedness; You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

So the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.And the king said to Haman,“ The money and the people are given to you, to do with them as seems good to you.”Then the king’s scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and a decree was written according to all that Haman commanded— to the king’s satraps, to the governors who were over each province, to the officials of all people, to every province according to its script, and to every people in their language. In the name of King Ahasuerus it was written, and sealed with the king’s signet ring.And the letters were sent by couriers into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all the Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to plunder their possessions.

Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning, That they may follow intoxicating drink; Who continue until night, till wine inflames them!

Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, For the reward of his hands shall be given him.

And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying,“ Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!” Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.
